TO NOTE

For the Record

The game was divided up into offensive (White) and defensive (Orange) teams.

The Orange triumphed for the second year in a row, marking the first back-to-back wins by that squad since 2002 and 2003.

With the victory, the Orange evened the win total in the series with the White at 25-25. There have been three ties.

Drawing A Crowd

Tennessee drew a crowd of 61,076, posting the second-largest attendance in UT spring game history.

In 53 games played since 1961, the Vols have now gone over one million in attendance at 1,049,234.

Spring Practice Awards

Harvey Robinson Award: Mack Crowder.

Andy Spiva Award: Dontavis Sapp.

John Stucky Iron Vol Award: Alden Hill, Alex Ellis, Max Arnold.

Offensive Scoring System

TD (+6), Extra Point (+1), Field Goal (+3), First Down (+2), 20-Yard Pass (+2), 15-Yard Rush (+2), 4th Down Conversion (+2).

Defensive Scoring System

Touchdown (+12), Turnover (+6), 4th Down Stop (+3), Missed Field Goal (+3), 3 & Out (+2), Drive Stop (+2), Pass Break-Up (+1), Tackle For Loss (+1), Sack (+1).

Look At That Basketball Score!

Utilizing the unique scoring format, the defense (Orange) took a 53-40 lead into the locker room at the half and ended up prevailing, 95-71.

The Orange (95), White (71) and total (166) scores were spring game records.

Using conventional scoring, the White held a 13-0 advantage at the half and was on the winning end of the final score at 16-6.

THE OFFENSE

Signal Callers

Junior Justin Worley got the start at quarterback and was in command for eight series during the game.

Redshirt freshman Nathan Peterman got the nod on the second series and also got nine possessions under his belt.

In the first half, Worley led one drive for a field goal and another for a touchdown. He had no scoring drives in the second half.

Peterman led two conventional scoring drives, capped by Michael Palardy's first-half ending 52-yard field goal and a 36-yarder by Palardy in the fourth stanza.

Worley finished 8 of 18 for 123 yards with one TD and one INT.

Justin Martin of the TV show "Duck Dynasty" called a play during the second half.

Passing Game

Justin Worley connected with sophomore Cody Blanc for a 58-yard touchdown in the second quarter, producing the game's first touchdown.

Senior Rajion Neal had a nifty, 39-yard catch and run from Justin Worley.

Nathan Peterman connected with Vincent Dallas for a 48-yard pass in the third quarter.

UT's signal-callers connected with 10 different receivers during the game, with Alden Hill and Devrin Young hauling in a game-high three catches.

Blanc, a sophomore, was the yardage leader, catching two balls for 59 yards.

Running Game

Redshirt freshman Alden Hill was the running game's standout, rushing for 101 yards on 18 carries.

Hill was the leading rusher in the first half, tally 48 yards on nine carries.

He had a 16-yard run in the third quarter.

The running game finished with 98 yards on 50 carries, but the number was affected by nine sacks (-73) of quarterbacks wearing non-contact jerseys.

Rajion Neal was UT's second-leading rusher at 34 yards on 11 carries.

THE DEFENSE

Making Stops

Freshman Corey Vereen was active with four first-half sacks, benefiting from the quarterbacks wearing non-contact jerseys. He finished with five tackles for the game.

Vereen had a 13-yard sack in the first quarter and ended the game causing 29 yards in losses.

Junior Jordan Williams (2), redshirt sophomore Alan Carson (1), senior Corey Miller (1), and senior Jacques Smith (1) all recorded sacks.

Jacques Smith sacked Pig Howard for a loss of 13 yards in the second quarter to sabotage a trick play (reverse pass) chosen by a young fan for head coach Butch Jones.

Redshirt senior Byron Moore and senior Daniel McCullers were the Orange's leading tacklers, recording six stops each. Both had four solos.

Redshirt freshman LaTroy Lewis had a PBU in the first quarter and redshirt freshman Danny O'Brien and senior Daniel McCullers also had deflections.

Big Plays

With the Orange holding a precarious 74-69 lead with 3:25 left in the game, redshirt sophomore Max Arnold stepped in front of a Tyler Page pass and returned it 62 yards for an Orange touchdown. The play resulted in 19 points for the Orange.

Brian Randolph intercepted a second-quarter Justin Worley pass and returned it 37 yards.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Kicking Game

Senior Michael Palardy drilled a 52-yard field goal to end the first half.

Palardy also drilled a 42-yard field goal in the first quarter for the first conventional points of the game and added a 36-yarder in the fourth frame.

Redshirt junior Derrick Brodus kicked a PAT in the second quarter.

Redshirt sophomore Patrick Toole tried and missed a 36-yard field goal in the third quarter.

Punting Game

Michael Palardy had punts of 38, 47, 36 and 50 yards for a 42.8 average.

Matt Darr had punts of 47, 42, 49 and 31 yards for a 42.2 average.

Ryan Ault added a 44-yard punt.

Returns

Pig Howard successfully fielded two punts.

Devrin Young successfully fielded three punts.

Vincent Dallas successfully caught two punts.
