THE SERIES
• Tennessee improved to 16-3 in the series..• The Lady Vols won their fourth-straight against the Tar Heels in the series.
• The game marked the first time UT put a top-four ranking on the line with another ranked team since No. 3/3 Tennessee defeated No. 7/7 Miami 96-76 on Nov. 15, 2011 at home.
• Last season against North Carolina (Dec. 2, 2012), Tennessee trounced the Tar Heels 102-57 in Knoxville. Meighan Simmons had a standout game, scoring a career high 33 points, including 12 field goals, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.
• In 2012, the Lady Vols scored 36 points off of 30 Tar Heel turnovers.
• When playing in Chapel Hill, the Lady Vols improve to 6-2 against the Tar Heels.
• Holly Warlick is now 1-1 in season openers as the Lady Vol head coach.
FOR STARTERS
• Tonight's starters: sophomore Bashaara Graves, junior Cierra Burdick, junior Isabelle Harrison, junior Ariel Massengale and senior Meighan Simmons.• The group of five starters have 227 starts, collectively, after tonight's game.
• Simmons scored Tennessee's first shot of the game on its first possession just five seconds into the game.
• Sophomore Jasmine Jones was first off the Lady Vols' bench with 16:07 remaining in the first period. Freshman Mercedes Russell was next off the bench just one minute later.
BEST ROAD WIN SINCE
• The win marked the best road game victory since the #6/6 Lady Vols defeated #11/11 Rutgers 67-61 on Dec. 13, 2011.• Tennessee improved to 448-174 (.720) against AP top-25 teams; Holly Warlick is now 8-6 (.538) against AP Top-25 teams.
• The Lady Vols were 7-6 against ranked teams a year ago, including a 102-57 win over No. 22 North Carolina.
GREAT GUARDS
• Junior Ariel Massengale surpassed her career-best three pointers in a game with five, four coming from the first half and one from the second.• Massengale also passed her career-best points and tied career rebounds in a game with 20 points and six rebounds, respectively. Her previous best was 19 points against Georgia in 2012 and six rebounds against Missouri last season.
• Andraya Carter went a perfect 3-for-3 in field goals, including two threes and 2-for-2 on foul shots.
• Not to miss out on the action, freshman guard Jordan Reynolds hit one three with five total points.
• Massengale and Carter helped Tennessee to seven of their nine total three pointers - the most in a game since the Big Orange hit nine against Auburn on Feb. 21, 2013.
FOUR TROUBLE
• Going into halftime, four Tennessee players carried two fouls a piece - Cierra Burdick, Isabelle Harrison, Meighan Simmons and Andraya Carter; only two North Carolina players carried two.• Foul trouble limited Lady Vol starters from minutes on the court in the first half - Harrison played five minutes and Simmons played six.
• Cierra Burdick was the only Lady Vol to foul out; Andraya Carter had four.
• North Carolina finished with 27 team fouls, giving Tennessee 28 chances from the line. The Lady Vols went 19-28 in free throws with sophomore Izzy Harrison leading the way with a perfect 6-6. Graves (2-2), Simmson (2-2) and Carter (2-2) were also perfect from the line.
19TH ALL-TIME
• On the opening possession, Meighan Simmons shot two points to pass Lady Vol all-time scorer, Michelle Snow, with 1,498 points.FIRST POINTS FOR REYNOLDS
• Freshman Jordan Reynolds entered the game at 10:47 to go in the first and scored her first collegiate points with a three-pointer at 8:36 remaining in the first after playing, but not recording any statistics at Middle Tennessee.TENNESSEE DEFENSE
• The Lady Vols held North Carolina to 65 points. UT held Middle Tennessee to 57 last Friday and UNC to 57 last season on Dec. 2, 2012.• The Tar Heels shot 30.4 percent from the floor.

• The Lady Vols return home to host Chattanooga on Thursday and Georgia Tech on Sunday, both at 7 p.m., ET.• After playing the Yellow Jackets, Tennessee will have played four games across a 10-day stretch before a Thanksgiving trip to the Junkanoo Jam in Freeport, Bahamas Nov. 28-29..
