ORLANDO, Fla. -- Senior Jarryd Chaplin and junior Brandon Fickey teamed up for another doubles win Friday to advance to the quarterfinals of the USTA Collegiate Clay Court Invitational.
Chaplin and Fickey defeated South Alabama's Shayann Vaezzadeh and Tuki Jacobs 8-6 in the second round to wrap up a long day of tennis for Fickey at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
The Tennessee duo faces Southern California's Roberto Quiroz and Michael Grant in the next round.
Fickey spent practically his entire day on court. He won his first match of the day over Central Florida's Matthew Gladstone 3-6, 6-3, 7-5. In the afternoon, he came out on the losing end a long three setter 3-6, 7-6 (2), 6-0 to Notre Dame's Quentin Monaghan in the third round.
Senior Colton Norton lost in the second round of singles to Southern California's Rob Bellamy 6-0, 6-4.
