ITA KICK-OFF WEEKEND
- The 19th-ranked Vols (8-0) are coming off a tight 4-0 victory over host Illinois on Friday. To qualify for the National Team Indoor Championships, Tennessee must now beat No. 18 North Carolina, the team that ousted them 4-0 from the NCAA Championships last year in the second round. North Carolina defeated Tulsa on Friday.
- Tennessee, Tulsa and North Carolina chose to travel to the Illinois region of the tournament in a draft last summer. All four teams are in the top 25, making this perhaps the most competitive region.
- This is the first of two straight weekends the Vols will be playing Illinois. They face the Illini in a regularly-scheduled non-conference match next Friday. Illinois is hosting the NCAA Championships for the first time in May, so Tennessee could be visiting Champaign, Ill., three times in 2013.
