September 05, 2012 | Volleyball

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - After just two weeks of the 2012 campaign, Tennessee volleyball junior Kelsey Robinson has picked up a pair of weekly honors, as the Tennessee Sportswriters Association (TSWA) announced her as the inaugural winner of its player of the week award on Wednesday.
Robinson, who was named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week last week, led the Lady Vols (4-2) to a pair of five-set victories and a second-place finish at the annual Wichita State Shocker Volleyball Classic last weekend. She led the tournament with 69 kills, tallied a double-double in each of UT's three matches and was named to the all-tournament team.
The Bartlett, Ill., native registered three 20-plus kill outings and had at least 17 digs in each match. She posted her third-career 20-20 effort with 24 kills and 22 digs against BYU and tallied 24 kills and 18 digs in a win over then-No. 24 Colorado State. Robinson now has 32 career double-doubles, including five straight.
The 6-foot-2 outside hitter currently leads the SEC in kills per set (4.77) and total points per frame (5.37), while ranking 13th in both aces (0.35) and digs (3.50) per game.
Robinson and the 16th-ranked Lady Vols will compete at its final regular season tournament this weekend, as they travel to College Park, Md., to compete in the SpringHill Suites at Arundel Mills Invitational from Sept. 7-8. The Big Orange will play George Washington, Boston College and tournament host Maryland at the event.
