Bobby Scott
Quarterback (1968-70)

A three-year letterwinner for the Vols, Bobby Scott posted a 20-3 record as Tennessee's starting quarterback from 1968-70, including a perfect 11-0 mark at Neyland Stadium. His .869 winning percentage is second in school history behind only Tee Martin (22-3, .880).

Scott saw his first playing time during the 1968 season, throwing for four touchdowns in limited action during the regular season and then coming off the bench to toss a 17-yard touchdown in a 36-13 loss to Texas in the Cotton Bowl.

As a junior in 1969, Scott won the starting job and proceeded to guide the Big Orange to a 9-2 record and an SEC championship, throwing for 1,352 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Scott closed out his Tennessee career with a banner season in 1970, throwing for a career-high 1,697 yards and 14 touchdowns. The Vols won their final 10 games of the season, including a 34-13 thumping of Air Force in the Sugar Bowl.

Following his collegiate career, Scott was drafted in the 14th round of the 1971 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. He would go on to play 10 seasons as the primary backup to Archie Manning for the Saints before spending one season in the USFL with the New Jersey Generals and Chicago Blitz.

Scott was inducted into the Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.

I was even prouder to have worn 10 after I met former Vol Mark Jones. He was such a good guy and he is my favorite number 10 to wear orange."

"I wore number 10 because when I first started playing sports my dad told me that the guy who wears number 10 is usually one of the best players on the team. I also liked Fran Tarkenton when I was little because of his scrambling ability. I played quarterback through the sandlot and JV days before turning into a wide receiver and free safety in high school and then moving on to Tennessee where I played free safety. My two sons are both quarterbacks and they have started to wear number 10 as well."

"I wore number 10 because my dad (Bobby Scott - 1967-70) wore number 10 and it had always been a dream of mine to get to wear my dad's number for the Orange and White!"
