Linebacker (1988-91)
The only Vols All-SEC selection ever to wear No. 87, Darryl Hardy earned the honor in 1991. Hardy was a three year starter with the Vols and was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in 1992. He went on to play for the Cardinals, Cowboys and Seahawks. Hardy piled up 227 career solo tackles and 318 total tackles including 14 TFLs. His career-high 18 solo tackles at Alabama 1989 are the fourth-most in a game in UT history.
WHY I WORE THE NUMBERJames Woody
Defensive End/Linebacker (1969-70)
"I wore Number 59 as a middle guard because I was low man on the pole. Then I moved to Number 87, this one I picked due to a change in position to defensive end in 1969 and next year aa a linebacker. My favorite thing about wearing the Numbers 59 and 87, was that my parents could find me."
