PLAYER SPOTLIGHTShaun Ellis
Defensive Line (1997-99)
A three-year letterwinner at Rocky Top, Ellis' collegiate career culminated in All-SEC First Team honors in 1999 before being selected with the 12th overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. Ellis accumulated 105 total tackles, including 22 for a loss and 12.5 sacks. He also forced three fumbles and intercepted one pass, returning it 90 yards for a touchdown, the fifth-longest INT return in school history. Ellis has spent the past 12 seasons in the NFL, earning Pro Bowl honors on two occasions. After playing 11 years for the Jets, he signed with New England last season, helping the Patriots reach Super Bowl XLVI where he recorded a pair of tackles.
