March 2, 2012
Welcome to On the T, a weekly golf instructional video from the UT Media Relations Department featuring members of the Tennessee Vols and Lady Vols. Topics being covered during the 2012 spring season include tips to help golfers improve their putting, driving, irons and bunker play, along with specialty videos on rescue shots and playing in adverse conditions. All videos are being recorded at UT's new Mack & Jonnie Day Golf Practice Facility. Video editing by Andrew Smith, production assistant for UT Broadcasting.
Week 3: Chipping Drill by Brandon Rodgers
- Rodgers is a sophomore from the Knoxville suburb of Farragut.
- He has recently turned a solid work ethic after the fall season into lineup spots in UT's first two spring tournaments.
- Rodgers set a collegiate best at last week's John Hayt tournament with a tie for 19th place.
- He's now third on the team with a 74.67 stroke average and has factored into the Tennessee scoring in all six of his spring rounds.
- His first lineup spot since fall 2010 was in mid-February at the San Diego Intercollegiate, where he responded with a tie for 32nd place.
- Tied for fourth in January at the New Year's Invitational in St. Petersburg, Fla., finishing just two strokes out of a three-way playoff for the championship amid a standout field of collegiate golfers.
- Helped the Farragut High School squad to consecutive Class AAA state championships in 2008 and 2009.
