THE SERIES
In Tennessee's first meeting with Coker, the Lady Vols won 118-44. UT outscored its two exhibition opponents 222-88. UT is now 50-11 in all-time exhibition games, including a 39-4 record at home.
UT is 2-0 in exhibition games in the Holly Warlick era.
Today's attendance was 10,137.
FOR STARTERS
Tonight's starters: freshman Bashaara Graves, freshman Jasmine Jones, sophomore Isabelle Harrison, junior Meighan Simmons and freshman Andraya Carter. Sophomore point guard Ariel Massengale and sophomore guard Jasmine Phillips sat out the exhibition game due to injuries. Massengale for Achilles tendonitis and Phillips with a left quad strain.
Sophomore forward Isabelle Harrison scored the first basket of the game with a layup.
Sophomore Cierra Burdick was the first substitution in for Tennessee.
All nine active Lady Vols saw playing time in the first half.
Pat Summitt
As expected, Lady Vol head coach emeritus Pat Head Summitt was in attendance. She was sitting half-court across from the Lady Vol bench. Summitt attends nearly every practice.
PHENOMENAL FRESHMEN
Freshman Bashaara Graves was the first Lady Vol to reach double digits in scoring. It is the second-straight game that a freshman has been the first UT player to score double figures as Jasmine Jones was the first against Carson-Newman. Freshman Andraya Carter had a team-best five steals in the contest, while freshman Nia Moore went 4-of-5 from the field, tallying eight points.
Freshman Jasmine Jones led the Lady Vols in blocks with two.
PERFECT PLACEMENT
During the first half, three Lady Vols were perfect from the free throw line as Meighan Simmons went 5-of-5, Jasmine Jones went 4-of-4 and Bashaara Graves went 4-of-4. Freshman Andraya Carter was 1-1 in field goals during the first 20 minutes of action, while senior Kamiko Williams went 1-1 in 3-point field goals in the first half.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
A total of six UT players recorded double-digit scoring efforts against the Cobras. Freshman Bashaara Graves tallied 12 points in the first half.
SMOOTH CRIMINALS
Tennessee collected 23 steals on the night, while giving up the ball only 14 times. The Lady Vols scored 51 points off Coker turnovers.
TO THE LINE
The Lady Vols were 16-of-18 (88.9%) from the free throw line in the first half, while shooting 3-of-4 during the second. Tennessee went 19-of-22 from the charity stripe for the game.
Four UT players were perfect from the line, as Meighan Simmons was 5-of-5, Jasmine Jones 4-of-4, Bashaara Graves 4-of-4 and Isabelle Harrison went 1-of-1.
AT THE HALF
Freshman Bashaara Graves led the Lady Vols in scoring at the half with 12 points. Senior Taber Spani grabbed a team-leading five rebounds in the first 20 minutes of action, while also dishing out three assists.
Junior Meighan Simmons grabbed three steals.
The squad went 16-18 (88.9%) from the line during the first half, while grabbing 24 boards. In the first half, Tennessee outscored the Cobras 34-2 in the paint while notching 28 points off Coker turnovers.
The Lady Vols only turned over the ball five times in the first half compared to Coker's 16.
All nine active Lady Vols scored in the first half as UT led 60-30.
