Lathers Earns SEC Community Service Honor

BIRMINGHAM -- Tennessee senior linebacker Herman Lathers is the SEC Football Community Service Team Player of the Week for Week 12 of the SEC football season.
Lathers has been involved in the UT and Knoxville community through activities such as Feed the Homeless at the Knoxville Area Rescue Ministry, Habitat for Humanity, Boys and Girls Club and visiting with area churches and hospitals.
He has spoken to children at the Jason Witten football camp and volunteered at the local YMCA and kids' Punt, Pass and Kick competition through Partners for Sports. He has worked a soccer camp for refugees through Sports for Peace and helped get Christmas presents for underpriviledged kids.
He has also spoken to children at Scotlandville Magnet High School in his hometown of Baton Rouge, La. about the importance of staying in school, education and participation in sports.
Lathers is a four-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and is majoring in Sport Management.
