Coach's Evaluation:
"Rob Murphy has a physical frame and the ability to stretch a defense with his jump shot. He brings his hard hat every day. Rob has been a great asset to our program because he forces our frontcourt guys to compete at a high level. On days when other guys want to go through the motions, Rob will expose them in practice. He's been a great teammate on and off of the floor."

"It takes a physically and mentally tough individual to compete every day in practice with Tennessee's big men. Rob Murphy fills this role very nicely. He isn't afraid to mix it up with the bigs, and he isn't afraid to offer suggestions based on his experience as a college player. One very important factor is that he has to be able to compete in practice - and Rob can definitely compete. He reminds me of one of my former teammates, and successful Knoxville architect, David Cockrill. Dave went toe-to-toe with Reggie Johnson, Howard Wood and Bernard King every day and always gave them all they wanted. Rob Murphy is doing the same thing with Jeronne Maymon, Jarnell Stokes, Kenny Hall and Yemi Makanjuola."
