Dwight's Insight: Student of Life

I used to always post random thoughts on Facebook before I began to use Twitter, and one post in particular was on my mind and I thought I should share it. I already had a different entry typed up, but I felt compelled to change direction and share a poem instead of writing paragraphs.
I pray and hope every day that people will read my journal entries because I wish to be viewed as a student of life who shares what he learns with anyone who's willing to listen.
you learn a lot about your friends through your enemies
it doesn't make sense being great at something that you don't enjoy
never give up love, you can't afford to in a world full of hate and deception
never turn a deaf ear to someone who is willing to teach you
never scorn the one who cares enough to rebuke or criticize you out of love
observe nature if you want to learn how to be obedient to your mother
and religion to learn how to serve your father
observe Jesus if you want to learn how to sacrifice for love
observe hurricanes and tornadoes as an example of what anger and aggression can do
observe blind love if you want to learn to see with your heart
because if you see with your heart, there is no such thing as blind faith
in a world of black and white, why not try to reside in the gray area where we all coexist
somewhere entangled in all the lies is the truth waiting to be found
a fulfilled life comes from knowing that death is a part of life
because of this, live life in such a way that when you die you do not take one secret to the grave with you
say what you really want to say and sing how you feel
there is no clear path to success
you have to get lost a million times just to find the right way
the things we are most afraid of recur to make us stronger
hold someone's hand and never want to let go, that is where we find friendship
let family be the foundation that you set your love on, because they are the only people who cannot run away from your life
even if they are not around they will always be family.
love your mother because God chose her for you
love your father even though he let $120 a month raise you for your whole life
because if he had never left, you might not have learned what a real man is/isn't
seek God through religion not religion through God
let your life be a basket so that you can sift the stones away from the gold
never say " I HATE YOU" with the same mouth you use to say "I LOVE YOU"
