Feb. 2, 2011
The Tennessee men's basketball program has set dates for four of its summer camps. Campers will receive increased time on the court this year, while the cost of each camp has decreased (full pricing available later this spring).
The Vols are offering two sessions of their Fundamentals Camp, with Session 1 running from May 31 through June 3, and Session 2 taking place June 27-30.
An Enhanced Skills Camp also will take place June 5-8.
All camps will once again be conducted at Thompson-Boling Arena and Pratt Pavilion, two of the nation's finest basketball facilities.
Fundamentals Camp will be similar to the Day Camps offered in previous years. It is open to all students entering kindergarten through students entering the eighth grade. During these four exciting days, campers will have great interaction with current Tennessee players and coaches while being exposed to the fundamentals of basketball through station-drill work and competitive games.
Throughout the week, each camper will receive individual instruction and coaching from camp coaches. Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt, a basketball and will have a chance to win prizes and get autographs from Tennessee players and coaches.
Lunch is served daily (K-1st grade at 11 a.m. and 2-8th graders at noon). Camp registration takes place from 7-8:30 a.m. on May 31 (Session 1) and June 27 (Session 2). Camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except for K-1st graders, who are dismissed at 1 p.m. An awards ceremony will be held on the last day of camp at 4:30 p.m. All campers can be dropped off and picked up at Thompson Boling Arena.
Enhanced Skills Camp is open to all students entering sixth grade through students entering their senior year of high school. During these four action-packed days, campers will have the opportunity to interact and learn from one of the best camp coaching staffs in America.
Coaches will conduct skill-enhancing drills and emphasize hard work to help campers gain a better understanding about the game of basketball. In addition, campers will participate in competitive contests, 1-on-1, 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 league games.
Guest speakers also will be featured daily to help campers increase their basketball knowledge and learn methods to increase their skills.
Registration on June 5, begins at 1 p.m., with camp starting at 3 p.m. Once registered, each camper will receive a camp t-shirt and basketball. Resident campers will stay in an on-campus dormitory and will be provided three meals daily; however, rooms do not come equipped with bedding or personal toiletries. Commuting campers will be served lunch and dinner only.
Camp starts each day at 8:30 a.m. and concludes at 9 p.m. Commuting campers can be dropped off and picked up each day at Thompson-Boling Arena. An awards ceremony will be held at 4:30 p.m. on June 8, with camp being dismissed at 5 p.m. that day.
Boosters are prohibited from paying any costs associated with camp attendance, including, but not limited to: camp tuition, transportation expenses, meals and lodging.
