EARLY MORNING PRACTICE
The Tennessee Lady Vol basketball team had an early wake-up call to start the second week of practice at 6 a.m. on Monday morning.
Eight players participated in the efficient and spirited one hour and 20 minute practice. Still sidelined are juniors Kamiko Williams, Taber Spani and rookie Ariel Massengale.
Williams continues to rehab her left knee following anterior cruciate ligament reconstructive surgery on July 22, 2011. Williams injured her knee on July 7 while playing in the Women's Pilot Rocky Top Basketball League. Spani had surgery on her left elbow on Oct. 4 to remove scar tissue build-up and is expected to return to practice in the next week or two. Massengale has missed the last week after suffering a concussion in practice on Oct. 10. She is following the concussion protocol and is listed as day-to-day.
Kudos went out to the Lady Vol male practice players who also made it the early morning session. Tennessee coach Pat Summitt was pleased with the response of the players. "They came in really focused and I thought they did a great job on the court with their communication."
Summitt also reminded Lady Vol fans that game tickets went on sale today. "Our fans are the best and they will be here for us," Summitt said. "Certainly we want everyone to come out and support this team."
