Mansson Rebounds at Fall Preview

BRYAN, Texas. - Lady Vol junior golfer Nathalie Mansson rebounded from a lackluster first round to torch the Traditions Club with her 27th career par or better performance on Tuesday during second round action at the NCAA Fall Preview presented by Calloway.
Mansson's three-under 69 helped No. 12 Tennessee shave eight strokes off its Day 1 total (306) with a 298 (+10) round two score, but the Big Orange remains in 16th-place among 18 teams.
After turning in first-round 79 on Monday, Mansson made four birdies against just one bogey on day two of the highly competitive invitation-only tournament that features nine of the preseason top 10 teams in the NGCA/Golf World Coaches' poll.
The Stockholm, Sweden native jumped 46 spots up the leaderboard - from t80th to t34th - in recording one of the best scores of the day. Her 27 par or better rounds are two away from fourth on UT's all-time list.
Sophomores Sara Monberg (74) and Leigh Henderson (76) also carded solid efforts, with Monberg improving by one stroke and Henderson matching her first round mark. Monberg is tied for 42nd with a two-day total of 75-74=149 (+5), while Henderson sits at t60th with a 76-76=152 (+8) tally.
Wrapping up the Orange and White lineup, freshman Chessey Thomas is tied for 72nd at 76-79=155 (+11), while senior Lauren Spurlock stands alone in 87th with a 79-82=161 (+17) total.
"Nathalie was back to her normal self today and Sara and Leigh are playing solid golf," Lady Vol head coach Judi Pavon said. "We had some mistakes at the end of the round again which are making the difference in being able to turn in good scores."
The Lady Vols were five-over as a team over the final three holes.
No. 4 Alabama vaulted to the lead through 36 holes with a round-two 280 (-8). The Crimson Tide have a 566 (-10) total and will take a slight cushion into Wednesday's final round over second-place LSU (570) and third-place USC (571).
Vanderbilt's Marina Alex and Alabama's Brooke Pancake share the medalist lead with 6-under 138 totals.
Tennessee will try to end the Fall Preview on a high note on Wednesday in a group with No. 11 Pepperdine and No. 14 Stanford. The Lady Vols will tee off from the 10th tee at 9:09 a.m. CT.
