Rhyne Williams earned a chance to reclaim his singles title at the Men's Futures of Pittsburgh with a three-set semifinal victory over the defending champion Saturday.
But that's not all the only title he will be playing for on Sunday.
Williams and Vol teammate Tennys Sandgren also won a weather-delayed semifinal to progress to the doubles championship.
Williams, the 2007 tournament champion, defeated Dennis Zivkovic 6-2, 6-7 (0), 6-4 in the semifinals at the Mt. Lebanon Tennis Center. The rising sophomore from Knoxville plays third-seeded Adam El Mihdawy in the final.
Williams and Sandgren won the first set against Evan King and Andrea Collarini in their semifinal match Friday afternoon before rain suspended play. The Vol duo picked up where they left off Saturday with a 6-4, 6-3 victory to reach the championship, where they will face top-seeded Gregory Ouellette and Vasek Pospisil.
While Williams and Sandgren did not play a match together at Tennessee last season, they have a 5-1 record together this summer. They reached the semifinals of the USTA Futures event in Rochester, N.Y.
