KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Fresh off of leading Farragut High School to its third consecutive Class AAA state championship, former Admiral teammates and University of Tennessee baseball signees Ethan Bennett and Nick Williams have been tabbed 2010 Louisville Slugger High School All Americans, as selected by Collegiate Baseball.
The 2010 Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year, Bennett was selected as a first-team catcher, while Williams was named to the honorable mention list as a pitcher.
A 6-1 catcher, Bennett hit .407 this season with a state single-season record 27 home runs, in addition to tallying 73 RBIs and scoring 57 runs. Earlier this spring, he set the national record for home runs in consecutive games, belting 16 during a 10-game stretch in April.
Bennett also finished the 2010 campaign with an astounding 1.050 slugging percentage and a .536 on-base percentage after hitting .360 with 39 RBIs and 11 home runs as a junior en route to Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association First Team All-Region honors.
A 6-2 right-handed pitcher, Williams finished his senior campaign with a perfect 9-0 record and one save while posting a team-leading 0.88 ERA. In 63.1 innings of work, he allowed just eight earned runs on 26 hits while striking out 95 batters and walking just 29. He also had a solid year at the plate, hitting .331 with nine home runs and 39 RBIs while doubling as the team's first baseman.
