The Tennessee Lady Vols will face the Missouri Tigers, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Georgetown Hoyas in the 2010 Paradise Jam Reef Division at the 11th annual Paradise Jam. The event will be held Nov. 25-27 at the University of the Virgin Islands' U.V.I. Sports and Fitness Center in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, USVI.
Tennessee claimed the St. John Division championship in 2005 with an 83-55 win over #9/9-ranked Michigan State, a 79-65 victory over Gonzaga and an 80-75 win over #10/10-ranked Maryland.
The Lady Vols will face Missouri in Game 1 on Nov. 25 at 6:45 p.m. AST (5:45 EST). The Tigers finished the 2009-10 campaign 12-18 (2-14 Big 12) and bowed out to Texas, 64-59, in the first round of the Big 12 Championship. This will be the third all-time meeting between the Lady Vols and Tigers, but the first since UT claimed victories on Jan. 14, 1978, 101-83, and Dec. 9, 1978, 74-61.
In its second contest, Tennessee will face Georgia Tech in the night cap on Nov. 26 at 9:00 p.m. AST. The Yellow Jackets posted a 23-10 (8-6 ACC) mark in 2009-10, but fell to Arkansas-Little Rock, 63-53, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Tennessee is 3-0 all-time against Georgia Tech, earning victories on Feb. 2, 1987, 100-74, Jan. 11, 1988, 96-79, and Feb. 15, 1989, 77-58.
In Tennessee's final contest in the U.S. Virgin Islands, it will face the Georgetown Hoyas at 9:00 p.m. AST on Nov. 27. The Hoyas finished the 2009-10 season 26-7 after a 49-33 loss to Baylor in the NCAA Second Round. The Hoyas ended the year ranked #13/17. This will mark the first meeting between Tennessee and Georgetown, with the Hoyas being the 181st team all-time to face UT and the 13th current BIG EAST foe to square off against the Lady Vols.
