Boren, Sorbello Eliminated from ITA Indoors

FLUSHING, N.Y. - University of Tennessee Lady Vol tennis players Brynn Boren and Maria Sorbello were eliminated in the doubles quarterfinals of the 2010 USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, held at the USTA-Billie Jean King Tennis Center on Friday.
Boren and Sorbello fell to Florida's Sophie Oyen and Allie Will, 8-2. Oyen and Will are ranked No. 18 in the nation and knocked off top-seeded Hilary Barte and Mallory Burdette of Stanford, the defending NCAA Champions.
In consolation singles play, Boren was victorious, topping Lucia Batta of UNLV, 6-2, 6-4. Boren advances to face Michaela Kissell of Marshall at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The winner of that match will play again at 2:30 p.m. against the winner of a contest between Mary Ann Macfarlane of Alabama and Zoe DeBruycker of UNC.
Kissell is the No. 41-rated player in the Campbell's/ITA singles rankings. She advanced by toppling No. 9-ranked Venise Chan of Washington, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.
