Tennessee Game Notes: vs. Chattanooga, Nov. 15, 2010, Game #2 - 2-0
Today's starters: freshman Meighan Simmons, senior Angie Bjorklund, redshirt junior Kelley Cain, junior Glory Johnson, junior Shekinna Stricklen.
The Lady Vols broke the UT single-game records for three-pointers made (15) and attempted (33).
Tennessee reached the century club for first time since scoring 102 against Old Dominion on Dec. 30, 2009. UT's 103 points are its most since defeating Florida 103-73 on Feb. 11, 2001 in Gainesville.
The last time UTC gave up 100 points came against UT on Nov. 12, 2006 (102-72) in Knoxville.
UT extended its home winning streak to 20 games - the eighth longest in Tennessee history.
The Lady Vols won their ninth straight home opener.
Meighan Simmons became the 60th freshman ever to start a game for the Lady Vols.
The Lady Vols jumped out to a 10-0 lead before two minutes even elapsed in the game forcing UTC head coach Wes Moore to call at timeout at 18:05. The Lady Vols increased the lead to 19-0 before UTC made its first shot at 14:22. The Lady Mocs missed their first seven attempts and had seven turnovers before their first score.
Tennessee assisted on its first 12 baskets. UT tallied more assists (12) in the game's first 10:34 than it did versus Louisville on Friday (11). UT finished with 25 assists.
Simmons scored 11 of Tennessee's first 19 points, including three treys in the first 6:21 of the contest.
Tennessee led by 35 (51-16) at halftime, but Tennessee would've need to lead by three more points to crack the all-time top 10 for largest halftime lead in Lady Vol history. The record is 55 set against Puerto Rico Mayaguez on Nov. 29, 2002.
Tennessee started 1-for-6 from the free throw line and finished 6-of-14 (42.9%).
Five consecutive Cain points followed by eight straight Simmons' points started a 17-0 UT run, making a 55-23 lead 72-23 over a four-minute, 18-second span (17:38-13:20) in the second half.
