Stevens, Jones Seeded in Regional Qualifier

Two Vols kick off action Thursday in the singles qualifiers of the ITA Regional Championships in Bloomington, Ind.
Redshirt freshman Max Stevens and true freshman Edward Jones were both seeded in the qualifying rounds of the tournament and received first round byes. They must win two matches to advance into the main draw.
Stevens, a Dallas native, has an 8-6 singles record in four tournaments this season. He is coming into the ITA Regional on a three-match winning streak dating back to three consolation victories in the Georgia Tech Fall Tournament.
On Thursday, Stevens plays the winner of the first-round qualifier between Memphis' Michael Janz and Ball State's John Wegener.
Jones' last tournament was also at Georgia Tech, where he earned his first victory over a ranked opponent in a 6-3, 6-2 win over No. 80 Carlos Alvarez of Clemson. Jones, a native of Carmarthen, Wales, has a 7-5 record this season. He plays the winner between Butler's Chris Herron and Murray State's Jadir Semensin.
Schedules and matchups for the main draw and doubles will be released Thursday.
