The University of Tennessee Athletics Department announced Wednesday that per game football ticket prices will remain the same for the 2009 season.
"Although tuition for student-athletes, health insurance and other operational costs have continued to rise for the athletics department, we have worked to make cuts in other areas to avoid raising season ticket prices for 2009," said Mike Hamilton, men's athletics director. "We've also made an effort to lower the price of some of our games to give more UT fans an opportunity to experience Tennessee football."
Season ticket prices for standard seats for the 2009 football season will be $360 for eight home games -- $50 for UCLA, Auburn, Georgia and South Carolina; $40 for Western Kentucky, Ohio, Memphis and Vanderbilt. Chairback seat season tickets are $3 more per game. A total of 14.25 percent of the $360 season ticket price, or approximately $44.90, is sales tax.
Season tickets for the 2008 season were $315 for seven home games -- $50 for Florida and Alabama; $45 for UAB, Mississippi State and Kentucky; and $40 for Northern Illinois and Wyoming. The price difference is the additional home game in the 2009 season.
The athletics department also announced individual game ticket prices for the Vols' home contests -- $70 for Auburn and Georgia; $60 for UCLA and South Carolina; $40 for Western Kentucky, Ohio, Memphis and Vanderbilt.
Fans interested in purchasing season tickets for the 2009 season can join the Volunteer Athletics and Scholarship Fund (VASF) with a minimum donation of $100 by March 1 to have the best opportunity to buy season football tickets. For more information, call the VASF at (865) 974-1218.
FOUR VOLS HEADED TO POSTSEASON ALL-STAR GAMES, FIVE INVITED TO NFL COMBINE
Five different Tennessee players who just completed their football eligibility are preparing for postseason activity over the next six weeks.
Robert Ayers, Arian Foster, Ramon Foster and Anthony Parker have been invited to participate in January all-star competition. Ramon Foster is headed for the East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 17 in Houston, while Ayers, Parker and Arian Foster are ticketed for the Senior Bowl on Jan. 24 in Mobile, Ala.
In addition, those same four along with Demonte' Bolden have received invitations to participate in the NFL Combine next month in Indianapolis. The Feb 18-23 event inside the Indiana Convention Center amounts to a job interview for NFL personnel.
