Ramon Foster SET FOR EAST-WEST SHRINE GAME SATURDAY
Tennessee offensive lineman Ramon Foster will be the first Vol to participate in a postseason All-Star game this season as he will suit up for the East squad in the East-West Shrine Game on Saturday at 3 p.m. CT in Houston, Texas.
The game, airing on ESPN2, is one of the oldest and most respected of the postseason contests, having been played every season since 1925.
Foster is one of nine Southeastern Conference players selected to the East team and the only member of either team who hails from the state of Tennessee (Henning). He started 12 games at the right tackle position in 2008 and 28 total games in his career.
Three more former Vols will play in the Under Armour Senior Bowl on Jan. 24 in Mobile, Ala. Running back Arian Foster, defensive end Robert Ayers and offensive lineman Anthony Parker were invited to the game and will play for the South team.
Foster finished his UT career ranked second in program history with 2,964 career rushing yards. Ayers led the 2008 Vols with 15.5 total tackles for loss and posted 31.5 TFL in his career. Parker started six games at each of the guard positions in 2008.
Tennessee has sent at least one player to the Senior Bowl for 22 consecutive seasons. In all, 112 Vols have been invited to the event.
The game will be televised by the NFL Network, and kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.
