Tennessee transitioned from UAB corrections to its first Florida game preparations during Sunday's 75-minute workout inside the Neyland-Thompson Sports Center.
The Vols stopped UAB 35-3 to even their record at 1-1. Florida, meanwhile, was idle Saturday and has started the season 2-0 with wins over Hawaii and Miami.
Head coach Phillip Fulmer says his team is up to the task against the fourth-ranked Gators, but it will take a strong effort.
"We have to play well," Fulmer said. "We haven't played our best yet. They are a very fine football team and we will have to play well to win."
Playing well enough to win has been Fulmer's theme to the Vols over the two weeks since UCLA rallied for a 27-24 overtime win in Pasadena. He says the intensity remains even after Saturday's win over the Blazers.
"That's not going to change. Tonight was to correct mistakes from Saturday and get a little bit of a scouting report on Florida. I will be very intense about playing this game and I have to be."
The Vols and Gators hook up Saturday at Neyland Stadium before a nationally televised CBS Sports audience. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. Eastern time.
"They're all important, but it's an SEC game and it's the first one. Coming out of the box from an SEC standpoint, you're at the top or the bottom. It's a very big ballgame."
