Forsythe makes CPL All-Star team

Catcher Blake Forsythe of Tennessee and first baseman Chris McGuiness of The Citadel were named to the American team for the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game. McGuiness comes into play on Thursday batting .304 with five home runs and 31 RBIs, which leads the team in the latter category. He will be the starting first baseman for the squad.
Forsythe, who is unavailable for tonight???s game against Martinsville after leaving last night???s contest in the Outer Banks in the seventh inning following a collision with a base runner, leads the squad with seven home runs, which is tied for 2nd in the CPL.
Chris and Blake join C.J. Beatty, Sonny Meade, and Justin Sarratt as the five total players who will be representing the HiToms in the game, which will take place at McCrary Park in Asheboro on Tuesday, June 22nd at 7:05pm. Pitcher Michael Park, who was originally selected, will not be able to participate for personal reasons.
The HiToms are a member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation???s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its twelfth season, the Coastal Plain League features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts.
