Forsythe starts hot in Coastal Plain League

Tennessee baseball player Blake Forsythe is swinging a hot bat early on for the Thomasville HiToms of the Coastal Plain League. Through just five games of the wood-bat summer-league schedule, the rising sophomore leads the CPL with three home runs and is tied for second in the league with seven RBI.
Forsythe???a catcher from Memphis, Tenn.???belted his third home run of the summer Tuesday in a 2-1 loss to the Asheboro Copperheads.
He drove in both runs in the HiToms??? season-opening 2-1 win over the Martinsville Mustangs on May 30, smacking a solo homer before driving in the winning run with an RBI basehit.
Forsythe???s biggest hit of the summer thus far came during Thomasville???s second game of the season on May 31, as he crushed a grand slam in the first inning to get the HiToms offense rolling in a 10-5 victory over the Forest City Owls.
The HiToms currently sit in a tie for second place in the CPL???s West division, a half game behind division-leading Asheboro.
The Coastal Plain League features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
