Tennessee head coach Phillip Fulmer said he is looking for a better effort over the last two days of spring practice. Better, for instance, than what transpired Tuesday on Haslam Field.
???We played like it was the first day of spring practice,??? Fulmer said. ???What you???re looking for as a coach is consistency -- consistency in your effort, improvement in your techniques and fundamentals, in your work ethic and things you emphasize on a daily basis, that the team takes it and is really serious about getting those things done.
???We???ve got some guys not doing that. After some real progress on Saturday, from both the older and the younger guys, some didn???t respond very well.???
Fulmer said Tuesday was a very physical practice, especially over the latter portion of the 21/2-hour workout. Short-yardage work, down-and-distance and two-point plays were included.
???We stretched them, but some of the guys didn???t respond very well,??? Fulmer said. ???Until we get that straightened out, we???re not the kind of football team we???re going to be.???
Tennessee practices again Thursday before finalizing preparations for Saturday???s Dish Network Orange and White Game. Kickoff at Neyland Stadium is 2:30 p.m.
Earlier in the day, a number of activities are taking place in and around campus.
