Tyler Smith Named SEC Player of the Week

Sophomore forward Tyler Smith was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week following solid performances against Auburn and Memphis.
Against Memphis, Smith's layup with 2:12 left brought the Vols to within one at 61-60 and then his turnaround jumper in the paint with 28 seconds remaining gave UT a 62-61 lead the Tigers. The last shot amounted to the game-deciding basket. He led the Vols with 16 points to go with six rebounds and three assists in the 66-62 win at Memphis.
Smith also notched a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds in a win over Auburn.
Smith leads the team in assists (3.7 apg), rebounding (6.5 rpg) and field goal percentage (.547) and is third in scoring (13.5 ppg).
He is the fourth Vol to be named SEC Player of the Week, joining J.P. Prince (Dec. 24), JaJuan Smith (Jan. 14) and Chris Lofton (Feb. 11).
