Lofton Named SEC Player of Week

Chris Lofton was named the Southeastern Conference's Player of the Week after scoring 41 points in a pair of UT wins. It is the seventh time he has been honored in his career and is the third Vol this season, joining J.P. Prince on Dec. 24 and JaJuan Smith on Jan. 14. Lofton has earned more player of the week honors than any other player in SEC history, passing Alabama???s Kennedy Winston (six from 2003-05).
The senior guard led Tennessee with 26 points while tying a career-high with five steals against Florida, and his 15 points led the Vols in a 47-45 win against LSU. He has led the Vols in scoring in each of their last six games.
The Maysville, Ky., native moved into seventh place on the NCAA's career 3-point shooting chart with 392 triples and is shooting 47.9 percent from 3-pt range in SEC games.
Lofton is shooting 50.8 percent (34-of-67) from 3-point range in his last seven games and his 79 3-pointers this year are ninth on UT's single-season lists. He holds four of the top 10 single-season marks in school history.
