Tennessee sophomore safety Eric Berry picked up another All-America honor Tuesday as he was named to the Associated Press first-team. The Associated Press is the fourth of five organizations recognized by the NCAA to honor Berry this postseason. The final All-America team, selected by The Sporting News, will be released Wednesday.
Berry, a native of Fairburn, Ga., is the first Tennessee player since Michael Munoz in 2004 to earn first-team status from the AP. He was also named SEC Defensive Player of the Year by the AP following his stellar 2008 campaign. He finished the season tied for the FBS lead with seven interceptions and atop the FBS with a school and conference record 265 interception return yards.
