Volleyball Signee Cikra Named Under Armour Second-Team All-America

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - University of Tennessee volleyball signee Leslie Cikra has been named to the third annual Under Armour All-American High School Volleyball Team, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced Wednesday. The Chagrin Falls, Ohio, native was one of 24 players from around the nation selected to the second team.
A 6-3 front-row player, Cikra will join the Lady Vol program in the fall of 2009. She is currently averaging 4.10 kills, 2.45 digs, 0.98 service aces and 0.78 blocks per set during her senior season at Chagrin Falls H.S.
For the first time in the award's three-year history, both a first-team and a second-team were honored, with 24 players on each. The 48 players represent 23 states and 44 high schools.
Requirements for nomination were that the student-athlete be in her senior year of high school, that she be nominated by her high school coach, that her coach be a member of the AVCA and that her season statistics be entered into MaxPreps, a free service that aggregates and distributes data on high school sports.
Cikra is also listed as the No. 11-ranked recruit on PrepVolleyball.com's 2008 Senior Aces List and was also named a top-50 junior recruit by the Web site in 2007. The Chagrin Falls H.S. product was named to the Ohio State Volleyball Coaches Association (OHSVA) District II First Team in both 2007 and 2008 and earned Chagrin Valley Conference honors in 2006 and 2007, being named to the second and first teams, respectively. This year, she has claimed All-Ohio Third Team accolades, as well as The News Herald Player of the Week laurels.
