The No. 14 Tennessee men's golf team shot a 4-over-par 292 on Saturday and moved up one spot into ninth place at the 11th annual Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate played at the Ridges Golf and Country Club, a par-72, 7,001-yard course in Jonesborough, Tenn.
The Volunteers improved their team score seven strokes from day one to day two and are 15 over par for the tournament.
Wake Forest fired a 3-under-par 285 to overtake ETSU for the lead in the team standings. Wake Forest is at even par for the tournament. ETSU and Coastal Carolina are tied for second at 2 over par, two strokes back of Wake Forest. Mississippi is fourth and N.C. State fifth to round out the top five.
Senior Chris Paisley shot the best round of the day for the Volunteers, a 2-under-par 70 and moved into a tie for fourth place in the individual standings. N.C. State's Darren Blair leads the individual standings. Paisley, who is two strokes back of Blair, carded par or better on 17 of 18 holes, including birdies on Nos. 1, 2, and 10.
Junior David Holmes ranks next for the Tennessee, tied for 37th after a 2-over-par 74 on Saturday. Holmes went 1 over on the front and back nine, with two bogeys and a birdie on each.
Sophomore Robin Wingardh is tied for 43rd, improving two strokes from Friday with a 2-over-par 74. Wingardh birdied on Nos. 5, 6, and 14 before shooting bogeys on the last three holes.
Justin Walker shot 5-over-par 77 and is tied for 55th. The freshman was 1 over through nine holes but struggled with five bogeys to start the back nine. He finished the day with a birdie on No. 18.
Competing as an individual, Garrick Porteous improved eight strokes from Friday to Saturday, firing a 2-over-par 74 in the second round. He improved 14 spots into a tie for 65th.
Sophomore Cameron Lawrence made this biggest improvement in the second round, shooting a 2-over-par 74, 10 shot better than his first round score. Lawrence is 14 over for the tournament and tied for 70th with a scorecard of 84-74--158.
