The Tennessee baseball team continues its Orange & White World Series this weekend with a 7 p.m. contest Friday followed by Sunday's game at 2 p.m. Admission is free for both games.
The seven-game fall intrasquad series began Oct. 3, with the Orange and White teams battling to an 8-8 tie.
Junior left-hander Nick Hernandez gets the start for assistant coach Fred Corral's Orange team on Friday. In the series-opening game, Hernandez threw two solid innings, allowing no runs on just one hit while striking out two.
The White team, managed by assistant coach Bradley LeCroy and volunteer assistant coach Nate Headley, will send sophomore left-hander Bryan Morgado to the mound Friday. Morgado also started the first game of the series for the White team, striking out all three batters he faced in his one inning of work.
Leading the offensive charge for the Orange team is junior third baseman Tyler Horne. The first-year Vol opened the fall with a 4-for-4 performance that included four singles, an RBI and two stolen bases. Kentrail Davis, who earned Freshman All-American honors in 2008, leads the White team at the plate. In the first game, Davis went 3-for-3 with an RBI and two walks.
Freshman left-hander Steven Gruver will get Sunday's start for the White team and will face off against either junior right-hander Stephen McCray or junior right-hander Steve Crnkovich of the Orange team.
Numerous former UT lettermen will be on hand Friday, as the Volunteers baseball program celebrates its Alumni Weekend.
