Forget About The H------

I recently received my press release from the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award committee (I'm not sure why but thanks for thinking of me), and I'd like to be the first to weigh in with my choice. I think it will be John David Booty from USC. Unless it's Colt Brennan from Hawaii. Although it could be Brian Brohm from Louisville or Tim Tebow from Florida. Truth is, I could be talked into Erik Ainge of Tennessee or Pat White from West Virginia.
The point is, I want to start talking up "The O'Brien," as the Davey O'Brien Foundation people refer to it. My fondest wish is that every time a quarterback of note is mentioned in a newspaper or magazine story he be referred to as an "O'Brien aspirant."
I hope that Web sites spring up analyzing the respective odds of O'Brien hopefuls, a kind of daily Dow Jones of signal-callers. And it's not too early, boys and girls, to think about organizing those Davey O'Brien Parties for the evening of Dec. 6 when the winner will be announced on a national TV show that promises to be positively ... Davey-like.
Let's hear it now: O'BRIEN! O'BRIEN! O'BRIEN!
