As the summer quickly approaches the childhood dreams of many young men will be accomplished on the last weekend in April in The Big Apple. The 2007 NFL Draft will host some of the biggest names in college football as these great athletes anxiously await which team they will become a part of, and the new area codes they will be moving to.
Like we have done in the past, Blacksportsnetwork.com was able to get an exclusive interview with a top draft prospect. Robert Meachem, a 6'2 Wide Receiver from the University of Tennessee, has his eyes focused on April 28. The star wideout is ranked 24th according to Scout.com, and as you will see below, has his mind right on becoming a star on Sundays.
BSN: Talk about your student-athlete experience at the University of Tennessee?
Meachem: Tennessee was a great program and they had a lot of things to help us out. We had great tutors and everything you needed to be the best student-athlete you could be. They set us up for success on and off of the field at Tennessee.
BSN: If you were not preparing to become an NFL player what would your profession be after college?
Meachem: I would probably be doing something with kids, and helping them reach their goals in life. A mixture of a teacher and a mentor I would say.
BSN: You declared for the NFL draft after your junior year. Why did you decide it was time to leave Knoxville?
Meachem: Well for me I kept praying and praying and took a day of fasting, and me and God had a whole day together. He kept telling me to move on and to reach a new challenge in life.
