Tennessee's men's tennis team faces its biggest test of the season thus far when it plays host to second-ranked Ohio State Friday at 4 p.m. at the Goodfriend Indoor Tennis Center.
"It's an exciting day for Tennessee tennis," head coach Sam Winterbotham said. "We get to play the No. 2 team in the country at home, in front of a fantastic crowd, and we'd like to encourage all the Tennessee tennis fans to come out and support our guys."
Tennessee (3-1) is ranked No. 36 in the country and most recently dropped a tough 4-3 match to sixth-ranked Illinois on the road. The Vols have won all three of their home matches this season by a score of 7-0. UT has not lost the doubles point yet this season.
Vol juniors Bobby Cameron and Kaden Hensel are both ranked in the ITA singles poll. Cameron, ranked 24th, is tied for the team lead with 18 singles victories. Hensel, ranked 35th, has six victories this season over ranked players. The two join up for doubles and form the nation's fifth-ranked duo. Adam Hubble and Ben Rogers make up UT's No. 2 doubles team and are ranked 34th in the nation.
Ohio State (5-0) is off to a tremendous start this season. The Buckeyes have beaten each team they have faced this season by a 7-0 score. Ohio State also is the only team in the nation that has six players ranked in the ITA singles poll.
In the ITA rankings, sophomore Steven Moneke is listed as the nation's top-ranked singles player. Seniors Devin Mullings and Chris Klingemann are ranked 42nd and 46th, respectively. Also ranked for the Buckeyes are sophomore Bryan Koniecko (No. 62) junior Drew Eberly (No. 64) and freshman Justin Kronauge (No. 69).
Admission to Friday's match is free, and live online scoring will be available at UTsports.com.
