For the second consecutive week, a Tennessee Volunteer was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week. This time the honor was bestowed on forward Wayne Chism who tallied 23 points and 15 rebounds in a pair of UT victories over LSU and No. 23 Vanderbilt. Last week, Ramar Smith took home his second Freshman of the Week award.
Chism combined with Duke Crews and Ryan Childress to hold LSU's Glen Davis to five points in Tennessee's 70-67 victory over LSU.
He then recorded his third career double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds in UT's win over 23rd-ranked Vanderbilt on Saturday. Chism registered career-highs for rebounds (12), steals (2), field goals attempted (11), 3-pointers made (3) and 3-pointers attempted (5) in just 22 minutes of action against the Commodores.
He leads the Vols and all SEC freshmen with 5.6 rebounds per game, while averaging 9.1 points per game.
