UT-Vandy Start Time Not Yet Determined
November 05, 2007 | Football
Kickoff for Tennessee???s Nov. 17 matchup against Vanderbilt has not been set because the game was not selected for telecast by any of the Southeastern Conference???s television partners. The contest will be available on the Vol Radio Network.
Tennessee leads the series 68-27-5 and has won 23 of the last 24 meetings. But it was two years ago in Knoxville that the Commodores snapped a 22-game losing streak to the Vols with a 28-24 win in the closing seconds. Tennessee bounced back to claim a 39-10 decision last year in Nashville.
Televised league games for the Nov. 17 weekend are Kentucky at Georgia on Lincoln Financial (12:30 p.m. Eastern) and LSU at Mississippi on CBS (2:30 p.m. Central). There will be no SEC games on ESPN or ESPN2.
INTERVIEW OF COACH PHILLIP FULMER BEFORE ARKANSAS GAME AT KNOXVILLE
1. Based on his spectacular play last Saturday, is Lennon Creer ready to be part of the Vols tailback rotation?
A - "I think he certainly is ready. A week ago, we were worried about his knee. His toughness got him through it. He has shown flashes of being a very fine back with exceptional speed."
2. Defensively, are the Vols now more able to make big plays such as interceptions and blocked punts, like they did Saturday?
A - "We're working at those things. We are taking care of the ball and not giving it away. We are making more plays on both sides of the ball, like sacks and interceptions. We stress it and work at it."
3. Looking to the stretch run, how did the victory over Louisiana-Lafayette help prepare the Vols for three straight tough SEC games?
A - "We weren't challenged much physically. The best part of playing them is there is some carryover on both sides of the ball. Defensively, seeing some of the options, like direct snaps, will help us in preparing for Arkansas."
4. Is there another team with a one-two running punch stronger than Arkansas' Darren McFadden and Felix Jones?
A - "I don't think so. It was incredible against South Carolina. We need to keep their offense off the field and score points. We have to tackle and do everything right on defense. It is a tremendous challenge to our team."
5. How do the Razorbacks shape up on defense as they come to Neyland Stadium on Saturday afternoon (12:30 Eastern time)?
A - "They are a good, high pressure defensive football team. They will make you work hard to execute. We need to have balance in our offense."
