Interview of Coach Pearl Before Temple Game
November 05, 2007 | Men's Basketball
1. Tell what you want the Vols to accomplish in the exhibition with Lincoln Memorial tonight (7:30E).
A - "More learning and more exposure. I hope Lincoln Memorial can expose some things we will need to work on."
2. Has 6-10 freshman Brian Williams developed faster than had been anticipated?
A - "Maybe a little bit faster than we thought. He is from the Bronx and has a little swagger. He does a great job in the classroom and off the court. I'm happy for him. He's a big man who moves his feet. I liked his good start when the lights came on."
3. How well is Tyler Smith of Pulaski, who transferred from Iowa, fitting into the picture?
A - "We expected Tyler to be productive. He will continue to be more effective. It really helps when you lose someone like Bradshaw to be able to bring in a Tyler Smith."
4. How many players can be part of the Vols rotation starting the season?
A - "At least 10. I've played 11 before, but 10 is the likely number."
5. What do you expect from Temple, the opening foe at revamped Thompson-Boling Arena Friday (7:30E)?
A - "Temple is extremely well-coached. They've got some really tough kids. It will be a very challenging game. Why such a tough opponent for the first game? Because of the reopening of Thompson-Boling Arena."
