Noting Tennessee
- Tennessee improves to 6-3 overall; Louisiana-Lafayette falls to 1-8.
- The Vols entered the game ranked 24th by the Associated Press; Louisiana-Lafayette is unranked.
- Tennessee returns to action Nov. 10 when it hosts Arkansas. The game will begin at 12:30 and will be televised by Lincoln Financial.
Tennessee-Louisiana-Lafayette Series
- Today???s contest marked the 2nd meeting between Tennessee and Louisiana-Lafayette. The Vols now lead the all-time series 2-0.
- Fulmer improved to 5-0 against teams from the Sun Belt Conference.
- The teams first meeting back in 1992 marked the first game of Phillip Fulmer???s coaching career. UT won the game 38-3.
Phillip Fulmer???s Record
- Tennessee head coach Phillip Fulmer???s record now stands at 143-44 (.765) in 16 seasons with the Vols.
- Fulmer owns a 51-23 record against non-conference opponents.
Vols Have Four Different Offensive Players Score First Career Touchdown
- Sophomore wide receiver Quintin Hancock caught five passes for 37 yards on UT???s first drive of the second half and ultimately scored the first touchdown of his career on a 5-yard pass from Ainge. Coming into today, Hancock had only seven catches on the season.
- Freshman Lennon Creer took his first carry of the game 30 yards for his first career touchdown.
- Junior wide receiver Kenny O???Neal hauled in a 49-yard pass from Jonathan Crompton in the fourth quarter for his first career touchdown reception.
- Freshman wide receiver Gerald Jones ran 12 yards into the endzone in the fourth quarter. The Tulsa, Okla., native finished the game with two catches for 10 yards and two rushes for 20 yards and a score.
Foster Goes Over 2,000 Yard Career Rushing Mark
- Foster rushed 20 times for 100 yards and two touchdowns. The junior running back is now in 12th place on Tennessee???s career rushing list with 2,001 yards.
- Junior tailback Arian Foster???s second-quarter touchdown run was his 10th of the season. The San Diego native is the first Tennessee running back to reach double digits in rushing touchdowns during a season since Travis Stephens scored 10 in 2001.
- Foster finished the game with two rushing touchdowns, bringing his season total to 11, which is the most rushing touchdowns for a Vol during a season since Travis Henry scored 11 in 2000.
- Foster passed Stanley Morgan (1973-76; 1,952) for 12th place. The San Diego native is 60 yards from tying Aaron Hayden (1991-94; 2,061) for 11th place.
Creer Hits Century Mark For First Time; Vols Have Two Runners Over 100 For First Time Since 2004
- True Freshman Lennon Creer rushed seven times for 109 yards and a touchdown. Coming into the game, the Tatum, Texas native had 23 rushes this season for 101 yards.
- The Vols had two players rush for over 100 yards in the same game for the first time since Cedric Houston (160) and Gerald Riggs Jr. (116) did it against Louisiana Tech on Sept. 25, 2004.
Ainge and Crompton Throw For Scores
- Senior quarterback Erik Ainge finished the game 16-of-23 for 125 yards and one touchdown.
- Sophomore quarterback Jonathan Crompton finished 3-of-4 for 68 yards and one touchdown. It was Crompton???s first touchdown pass of the season.
Brown Extends Pass-Catching Streak
- With a 9-yard reception today in the first quarter, senior tight end Chris Brown extended his streak of games with at least one catch to 12. That is the second-longest streak by a Vols tight end during the Fulmer era (1992-present).
- Current Dallas Cowboys All-Pro tight end Jason Witten caught a pass in 17 consecutive games from 2001-02. Brown finished with one catch for nine yards.
- Tennessee did not allow a quarterback today and has allowed just three on the year. The Vols lead the FBS in sacks allowed.
- Starting quarterback Erik Ainge has been sacked just twice this year in 323 pass attempts.
- The Vols average one sack allowed for every 111.7 pass attempt this season.
Noting the Defense
- Senior defensive end Antonio Reynolds returned his first-career interception 70 yards for the first touchdown of his career in the second quarter.
- Reynolds??? interception return was Tennessee???s second defensive touchdown of the season.
- Freshman defensive back Eric Berry returned an interception 96 yards for a touchdown at Florida.
- The Vols pitched a first-half shutout for the third consecutive game at Neyland Stadium. UT has outscored its opponents 73-0 in the first half in those games.
- Senior safety Jarod Parrish picked up his first career interception in the fourth quarter.
- Linebackers Ryan Karl and Rico McCoy led the Vols with eight tackles.
- Junior linebacker Ellix Wilson and freshman defensive back Dennis Rogan set career-highs with six tackles. Also setting career-highs in tackles were junior defensive tackle Walter Fisher (5) and freshman defensive end Chris Walker (3)
Miscellaneous Notes
- Saturday???s announced attendance of 96,197 is the first crowd of below 100,000 since the most recent stadium expansion in 1996. The Vols had played before 75 consecutive six-figure home crowds since drawing 92,274 against Vanderbilt on Nov. 25, 1995. For today???s game, the second of a four-game homestand, Louisiana-Lafayette sold fewer than 1,000 of an available opponent allotment of 9,500, while UT students also returned 3,200 tickets.
- Tennessee???s game captains today were seniors Erik Ainge, Chris Brown, Jonathan Hefney, Ryan Karl Xavier Mitchell and Antonio Reynolds.
- 2007 World Grand Champion Walking Horse, Master of Jazz, made his appearance before kickoff of Saturday???s homecoming game. The trainer for Master of Jazz is Jimm McConnell and his owners are Mike McGartland of Forth Worth, Texas, and Lee Wall of Jackson, Miss.
- Freshman kicker Daniel Lincoln opened the scoring with a 24-yard field goal. The Ocala, Fla., native is 16-of-18 (.889) on field goal attempts this season.
- Nevin McKenzie blocked a third quarter Ragin Cajun punt which Antonio Wardlow picked up and ran 20 yards for a touchdown. It was UT???s second blocked punt of the season and Wardlow???s second special teams touchdown. Last season, Wardlow blocked and recovered a Georgia punt for a touchdown.
- UT???s 52-point margin of victory is its largest win since a 70-3 win over La.-Monroe on Homecoming Sept. 23, 2000.
