Two Former Vols??? Captains Named Legends

Will Overstreet lined up on the right end of Tennessee???s defensive line for four seasons from 1998-2001. The Jackson, Miss., native started as a sophomore, junior and senior and was named a team captain in 2001. He posted 146 tackles, 19 sacks and 22 other tackles for loss in his collegiate career and earned All-SEC honors in both his junior and senior seasons.
In Overstreet???s tenure, the Vols experienced one of the more successful stretches in program history, winning 41 games against only nine losses. The 1998 BCS National Championship and the 2001 eastern division championship were also a part of Overstreet???s four-year stint on Rocky Top.
Selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round of the 2002 NFL Draft, Overstreet played two seasons in the NFL before stepping away from the game due to injuries. He now runs an online company, Voices Heard Media, which sets up game coverage and interview opportunities for sports fans.
Cory Fleming donned the orange and white from 1990 to 1993, never playing on a Tennessee team that won fewer than nine games. The Vols finished 37-10 in that four-year span, winning an SEC title in 1990 and 10 games in 1993.
In his career, Fleming caught 94 passes for 1,266 yards and 18 touchdowns. His best season was his last. He was named a team captain before the 1993 season and went on to demonstrate why throughout the year, hauling in 39 passes for 596 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Fleming was selected in the third round of the 1994 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. He spent time at the game???s highest level with the 49ers, Dallas Cowboys and Oakland Raiders.
