Vols Face Division II California (Pa.)
- Tennessee will play the first of two preseason exhibition games on Friday, Nov. 2, when the California (Pa.) Vulcans visit Thompson-Boling Arena. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EDT.
- UT hosts Lincoln Memorial in its final preseason exhibition Monday, Nov. 5, before officially opening the season on Friday, Nov. 9, against Temple.
- This will be the fourth year that Tennessee will be playing NCAA Division II teams for their exhibition games. The Vols are 6-0 against D-II teams in preseason exhibition games.
- Located in California, Pa., the California University of Pennsylvania is an NCAA Division II school that is a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. Last year the Vulcans recorded a 24-7 record, won the PSAC West title and advanced to the semifinal round of the NCAA Tournament. Cal narrowly dropped exhibition games at Maryland (78-79) and Arkansas (68-75) last season.
- The Vols return a total of eight letterwinners, including four starters, from last year???s squad that posted a 24-7 overall record and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
- A panel of SEC and national media has tabbed the Vols as the preseason favorite to win the Southeastern Conference championship this season. Chris Lofton was named the preseason SEC Player of the Year by the panel.
- The Vols will be playing their first game in the newly renovated Thompson-Boling Arena. Since the completion of the 2006-07 season, more than $19 million in renovations which include the addition of luxury seats, a loge seating area, all new black seats and a new center hung scoreboard.

- Five times UT has seen exhibition crowds larger than 10,000 people. The largest was a paid crowd of 18,503 that saw the Vols beat the Soviet National Team 83-81 Nov. 21, 1988.

Reserved Seating For Exhibition Games
Reserved seats and parking will be enforced for both of Tennessee???s exhibition games this year ... All of the seats in Thompson-Boling Arena will be reserved seating and all of the lots on campus will require a parking permit ... In past years the seating and parking at exhibition games had been on a first-come, first-served basis.
Tennessee In Exhibition Games
The Vols are 55-17 all-time in exhibition games, including a 42-8 mark in home exhibition games ... Tennessee has won 28 of its last 30 home exhibition games dating back to the 1992 season ... Last year the Vols swept both of their exhibition games with a 120-66 win over LeMoyne-Owen and a 100-57 victory over Tusculum.
Ticket Sales Breaking Records
Tennessee basketball tickets have been a hot item this year ... UT announced on October 23 that it had sold out all of its 16,000 season tickets, a first in school history ... The previous record for season ticket sales was 13,929 set in 1987, the first season Thompson-Boling Arena was open ... Additionally, single-game tickets for the Kentucky, Florida and Ohio State games tickets sold out in less than four hours ... A very limited number of single-game tickets remain available for the remainder of Tennessee???s home games ... Vols Ranked 7th In Coaches Poll
Tennessee was ranked seventh in the preseason ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll that was released October 26 ... The Associated Press preseason poll will not be released until Nov. 2 ... The highest preseason ranking the Vols have received by the Associated Press was a No. 9 ranking prior to the 1975-76, 1998-99 and 2000-01 seasons.
TBA Gets A New Look
The University of Tennessee invested more than $35 million into its basketball facilities between the end of the 2006-07 season and the start of the 2007-08 campaign ... During that eight-month period UT added a basketball-only practice facility and began the first phase of renovations to Thompson-Boling Arena ... The $19 million first phase of renovation to Thompson-Boling Arena included the addition of 32 luxury suites that are located in the existing north balcony, a loge area just below the luxury suites that includes 166 side court seats, new seats for the entire arena, a $3 million center hung scoreboard and concourse refurbishments, such as graphics and other amenities ... After the renovations, Thompson-Boling???s capacity is now 21,678 ... A state-of-art basketball practice facility, Pratt Pavilion houses two full-size gymnasiums, one for each of the men???s and women???s basketball teams, as well as space for an athletic training room, a weight room and a film study room.
The Basketball Hall Of Fame To Visit Knoxville
The Basketball Hall of Fame will tip off its first road trip with a stop at the Knoxville Convention Center Nov. 2-11 ...
