The Tennessee men's tennis team embarks on the fall season Friday when it begins play at the 38th annual Southern Intercollegiate Championships at Georgia's Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
"The guys seem very eager to start playing," UT head coach Chris Mahony said. "Coach Woodruff and I have attempted to impress upon the guys the importance of having a good fall season. It's definitely the time of year to build confidence and to send a message to opposing teams. I'm looking forward to the competition this weekend."
The 2006-07 Vols return eight lettermen from last season with only one newcomer, Christopher Racz, being added to the mix. Tennessee returns its top-two singles players from last season in juniors Bobby Cameron and Kaden Hensel. Also returning is senior Ben Rogers, who garnered All-America honors in doubles in 2005.
This weekend's tournament is comprised of three singles divisions and two doubles divisions. Div. I and II singles feature full 64-man draws, while Div. III is a 60-man bracket. There are also two doubles divisions, with approximately 40 teams in each.
