Head coach Rod Delmonico announced Tennessee's 2007 schedule Monday, highlighted by a season-opening series against Florida State.
Of the 24 teams on Tennessee's 2007 schedule, 11 made appearances in last season's NCAA regionals, four advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals and one (Georgia) advanced to the College World Series.
The Volunteers open the 2007 season in Tallahassee, Fla., for a three-game set against the Seminoles. Tennessee is 4-3 all-time against FSU with all previous meetings coming in Florida. After returning home, the Big Orange begins its 2007 home slate with a 17-game homestand kicked off by a three-game set with Eastern Michigan and then continues with weekend series against Morehead State, IUPUI, Illinois, Siena and midweek games against Furman and Lipscomb.
The Southeastern Conference portion of the schedule begins in Tuscaloosa, Ala., when the Volunteers square off with Alabama March 16-18.
The Vols open SEC play at home March 23-25 against Georgia and also host Arkansas (March 30-April 1), Mississippi State (April 13-15), defending SEC Tournament champion Ole Miss (May 4-6) and South Carolina (May 12-13).
Tennessee's remaining road trips include weekend stops at Kentucky (April 6-8), LSU (April 20-22), Vanderbilt (April 27-29) and Florida (May 17-19).
Similar to last season, Tennessee and Florida will play a Thursday-Saturday series to allow an extra day of rest before the league's top-eight teams head to Birmingham, Ala., for the 2007 SEC Baseball Tournament May 23-27.
The regular season, non-conference midweek contests also include home-and-home series against Furman, Tennessee Tech and ETSU, a visit to Wofford and home games against Belmont, UNC Asheville and Wright State.
The NCAA regionals take place June 1-3, and NCAA Super Regionals will be held the following weekend (June 8-10). The NCAA College World Series runs June 16-26 in Omaha, Neb.
