Tennessee baseball player J.P. Arencibia received yet another postseason honor this past weekend when he was named to the College Baseball Foundation's 2006 Honors Team. The CBF's version of an All-America squad, the Honors Team recognizes the nation's top performers from the complete regular season.
A Freshman All-America catcher last season, Arencibia continues to add to his already well-stocked trophy case. His 2006 CBF Honors Team acclaim comes on the heels of his being named a first-team All-SEC selection. The Miami, Fla., native also recently earned an invitation to the 2006 USA Baseball National Team Trials and is a strong candidate for additional All-Region and All-America consideration.
Arencibia has started all 122 games of his career, and he batted .352 with a team-high 52 RBIs this season. He tied for the team lead with 11 home runs, and now has 25 career homers.
