Knoxville, Tenn. - Tennessee Lady Vol head basketball coach Pat Summitt underwent shoulder surgery at St. Mary's Medical Center on Monday morning.
Dr. Edwin Spencer performed arthroscopic surgery on Summitt's right shoulder to clean up adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder).
"Coach Summitt had surgery this morning to help regain full range of motion in both of her shoulders," said Jenny Moshak, Tennessee's Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine. "Dr. Spencer used arthroscopic surgery on the right shoulder only, but relieved adhesive capsulitis on the left shoulder as well."
Summitt's activity will be limited for the next two months as she will require an estimated six to eight weeks of rehabilitation and recovery time.
