LADY VOLS HOST ARKANSAS ON SUNDAY
THE GAME The #5-ranked Tennessee Lady Vols (20-2, 6-1 SEC) are at home for three key SEC games beginning with a dangerous Arkansas squad (13-8, 5-3 SEC) on Sunday, Feb. 5. CSS has the telecast. UT has won 63-consecutive SEC games at home -- the last SEC loss at home was to Georgia on Dec. 8, 1996, 94-93 (OT). The overall Lady Vol home winning streak currently stands at 21-consecutive. LADY VOLS AT A GLANCE This is the Lady Vols' 32nd season under Head Coach Pat Summitt...She has compiled a staggering 902-174 overall record...Collected her 900th career coaching win with a 80-68 decision over #19-ranked Vanderbilt on Jan. 19, 2006... She passed Dean Smith (879 wins) for most NCAA collegiate basketball wins of all-time with a 75-54 victory over Purdue on Mar. 22, 2005 ...Her 2004-05 squad finished third in the NCAA Final Four Championships with a 30-5 overall record and were the SEC Tournament Champions... This season, UT returned eight letterwinners, two redshirt freshmen and welcomed one newcomer ...The 2005-06 season marks the Lady Vol debut for redshirt freshmen Candace Parker and Alex Fuller who sat out last season rehabbing their left knees...True freshman, #21 Lindsey Moss, a 6-0 guard from Alpharetta, Ga., is seeing her first action this season...UT's team dropped to 10 players when starting sophomore point guard Sa'de Wiley-Gatewood left the squad on Dec. 19, 2005... THE 4-1-1 ON THE LADY'BACKS In their last contest before traveling to Knoxville, a 17-point effort from junior Leslie Howard paced the University of Arkansas in a losing effort, 93-59, against #3/4-ranked LSU in SEC action in Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, Ark., on Feb. 2. Arkansas (13-8, 5-3 SEC) struggled offensively for much of the game as LSU (19-1, 7-0 SEC) nearly doubled the Lady'Backs' shooting percentage for the contest. The sluggish offense was magnified by a disparity in the fouls with LSU hitting the line 29 times connecting on 25 shots. LSU All-American and 6-6 post player Sylvia Fowles lead all scorers with 21 points in a nine-of-12 night. She added 11 rebounds in the Tiger 93-59 win. Arkansas was just seven-of-nine from the line paced by a four-of-five night from Brittney Vaughn. Senior Melissa Hobbs joined Howard as the only other Lady'Back in double digits with 10 points. Arkansas opened the second half with inspired offensive and defensive action. The Lady'Backs managed to cut the Tiger lead to 15, 58-43, but Fowles again stepped up for LSU. She helped LSU to 58 points in the paint while holding Arkansas to just 18 inside the lane. LSU also bested Arkansas on the boards cleaning the glass 45 times to the Lady'Backs' 26 on the night. OUR SCHEDULE THIS WEEK... The SEC routine continues this week with a Sunday game at home vs. a feisty Arkansas squad and then a Thursday "Rivalry Week" contest against #3/4 LSU in Knoxville televised by ESPN2 in high-def. LADY VOLS ON TV A record 21 Lady Vol regular season regional/national games are slated for television this season. UT is 12-2 on TV so far. SCHEDULE UPDATE The UT-Vandy game in Knoxville on Feb. 12 will be a 5:30 p.m. tip-off on ESPN2. ON THIS DAY Tennessee is 8-2 in their history when playing on Feb. 5. The Lady Vols are 5-1 at home, 3-1 on the road, and 0-0 on neutral courts. Last time out on the 5th, the Lady Vols lost to Connecticut, 67-81, in at home in 2004. LOOKING BACK Last year at this time, the Lady Vols were 17-3 and had just defeated Florida, 91-82 OT, in Gainesville on Feb. 3. MOSS SURGERY UPDATE Jenny Moshak, UT Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine, announced on Feb 3 that Lady Vol rookie basketball guard Lindsey Moss had a successful surgery to repair a displaced nasal fracture. Moss missed the game at Ole Miss and will not play against Arkansas but is expected to return to the practice floor next week wearing a nose splint. Moss suffered the injury in the Jan. 29 game against Alabama in the first half. The 6-1 guard collided with Alabama's Navonda Moore and had to be helped to the locker room. Moss had hit all three of her treys and scored a career high nine points in just six minutes of playing time before the injury. Earlier in January, Moss suffered a non-displaced nasal fracture against Mississippi State on Jan. 15. She is averaging 2.1 ppg and logs 6.7 minutes per game. ANOTHER 20 WIN SEASON The Tennessee Lady Vols have claimed yet another 20-win season. With its victory over Ole Miss, it marked the 30th consecutive time (and the fourth fastest) that a Lady Vol team reached at least 20 wins in a season under Coach Pat Summitt. The perfect 39-0, 1997-98 Lady Vol squad reached 20-wins the earliest - Jan. 20. While the 1984 NCAA runner-up Tennessee team reached 20 wins the latest by any Lady Vol team ever - March 17. Summitt has only had two teams ever fail to reach 20-win seasons during her 32-year tenure...In her first and second seasons (1974-75 and 1975-76) at UT, the Lady Vols were 16-8 and 16-11, respectively. THE NCAA 25TH ANNIVERSARY TEAM HAS A ORANGE GLOW The NCAA named five players and one coach to the NCAA Women's Basketball 25th Anniversary Team on Feb. 1. The University of Tennessee ran away with top honors as Bridgette Gordon (1985-89) and Chamique Holdsclaw (1995-99) were named to the five-player team and Pat Summitt earned the nod as the best coach over the last 25 years. The 25th Anniversary Team consists of Cheryl Miller (Southern Cal), Holdsclaw, who led the University of Tennessee Lady Volunteers to championships in 1996, 1997 and 1998; Diana Taurasi, the University of Connecticut guard who led the Huskies to three consecutive championships in 2002, 2003 and 2004; Gordon, who helped lead Tennessee to championships in 1987 and 1989; and Sheryl Swoopes, who led Texas Tech University to the national title in 1993. Selected as the coach of the team is the legendary Summitt, who has led Tennessee to six national championship titles and 16 Women's Final Four appearances during her illustrious career. Summitt, who just recently topped 900-career wins, is the all-time leader in every NCAA tournament coaching record including titles, appearances, games, wins and winning percentage. She has led Tennessee to 24 consecutive tournament appearances. An expert panel consisting of administrators, former coaches, representatives from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame and members of the media used historical data and results from the online public voting to make its decision based on each individual's achievements during NCAA championship competition. PARKER NAMED TO WOODEN WATCH MIDSEASON LIST Lady Vol rookie Candace Parker has been named to the 2006 Midseason All-American Team for the Women's Wooden Award. With the women's college basketball season currently immersed in conference play, the committee released the list of the top 20 players who are expected to contend for this year's Player of the Year Award. The midseason list is based on individual player performance and team records through the first half of the season. Parker leads the Lady Vols in scoring (15.1 ppg), rebounding (7.7 rpg) and blocks (2.1 bpg). She ranks second in the SEC in blocks, sixth in rebounding, sixth in scoring and ninth in field goal percentage (.561). Her performance from the field places her fourth in the all-time Lady Vol record books for career field goal percentage. In 22 games this season, Parker has scored in double figures 19 times and grabbed at least 10 rebounds in seven contests. She has been named the Philips Player of the Game on six occasions, and claimed SEC Freshman of the Week honors four times and the conference's Player of the Week on Jan. 16. Parker has or will face nine of the players on the list during the regular season. GAME REPORT 23 - ARKANSAS Arkansas (13-8, 5-3 SEC) arrives in Knoxville on the heels of a tough home loss, 93-59, to #3/4-ranked LSU on Thursday. Although the Lady Razorbacks have had impressive showings this season, as they earlier defeated #20-ranked Vanderbilt, 52-51 (OT), and #24-ranked Florida, 69-63, they had surprising stumbles at Alabama, 75-73 and at South Carolina, 61-52. The Lady'Backs are in the middle of a tough six-game SEC stretch which sees them play LSU twice, along with Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Georgia. TENNESSEE-ARKANSAS All-Time Series Meetings
UA SERIES TIDBITS Tennessee leads the all-time series with Arkansas 16-1, dating back to the 1991-92 season, the Lady'Backs' first in the SEC. Arkansas' lone series win came at home on Dec. 29, 1996, a 77-75 victory over the Chamique Holdsclaw-led Lady Vols. Since then, UT has won 11 straight over Arkansas. AVERAGE SCORE The average score of a Tennessee vs. Arkansas game is UT 84.4 (1,434) and UA 63.7 (1,083). The Lady Vols average margin of victory is +20.7 points in the 17-game series. CAREER STATS VS. ARKANSAS In all-time action versus Arkansas, senior Tye'sha Fluker has put up impressive numbers (7.4 ppg and 5.2 rpg, while shooting 65.2 percent from the floor). Also with solid numbers is senior Shanna Zolman (8.0 ppg and a 50.0 percent shooting percentage from behind the three-point arc). Returning Lady Vol career statistics versus Arkansas can be found on p. 65 in the 2005-06 Tennessee media guide. THE ARKANSAS COACH Third year Arkansas head coach Susie Gardner is a native of the Volunteer State as she was born in Mt. Juliet, Tenn. Gardner is no stranger to the SEC or Thompson-Boling Arena. She played for the Georgia Lady Bulldogs from 1982-86 before serving as a graduate assistant for UGA from 1986-88. As head coach at Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tenn., Gardner led the Lady Govs to three-straight Ohio Valley Conference titles as well as a 16-0 regular season resume in 2003. She coached her first game as a Division I head coach on Nov. 15, 1996 against the Lady Vols losing 80-59 in TBA. When her APSU team played in the 2001 NCAA Tournament, they faced the Lady Vols in opening round action in Knoxville and fell, 80-38. LADY VOLS VS. LADY'BACKS STAT COMPARISON
OUR LAST MEETING VERSUS ARKANSAS Senior Shyra Ely scored a season-high 30 points as the sixth-ranked Tennessee Lady Vols defeated Arkansas, 84-71, at the Bud Walton Arena on Feb. 20, 2005. The victory was UT's second against the Lady Razorbacks in the 2004-05 season, as it prevailed 72-54 in Knoxville on Jan. 13. Early in the contest, the Big Orange's tough defense enabled it to take a 10-3 advantage, as it held Arkansas to just one field goal for nearly the first eight minutes of play. Pat Summitt's squad then rattled off an 11-2 run, capped by a three-pointer by Brittany Jackson, to extend the margin to 16 points with 10:22 to play in the opening frame. While Arkansas cut the difference to 13 points with just less than five minutes showing, the Lady Vols responded with a 9-2 run to take its biggest lead of the game, 39-19. At the break, Tennessee held a comfortable 39-22 lead, thanks in part to its defense that held the opposition to just 21.4 percent shooting. Following the intermission, UA scored the second half's first four points, but UT answered with a 9-2 spurt to push the margin back to 20 points, 48-28. With the Orange and White still ahead by 20 points, 61-41, with 10:32 remaining, the Lady 'Backs rattled off a 14-2 run during a three-minute span to cut the margin to just eight, forcing Tennessee to take a timeout. However, the Lady Vols answered with another 9-2 run to go ahead by 15 points, 72-57, and would let Arkansas get no closer than 11 points the rest of the way. Individually, the Lady Vols were paced by Ely's 30 points, which marked the 75th time in the program's history that a UT player has scored at least 30 points in a single game. As a team, Tennessee shot a season-best 54.5 percent from the field but committed a season-high 28 turnovers. Interestingly, UT committed a season-low nine turnovers in its previous contest, a 74-44 victory against South Carolina. UT AND ARKANSAS RANKED MEETINGS IN 2005-06 The Lady Vols game against #2 Duke marked Tennessee's 10th game versus a ranked team this season. UT is 9-1 when facing the nation's best teams. Meanwhile Arkansas will be meeting its fourth ranked opponent in #5/5 Tennessee. UT defeated #9 Michigan State, #10 Maryland, #16/18 Texas, #12/11 Stanford, #22/21 Temple, #12/11 Notre Dame, #7 Connecticut, #13/17 Georgia and #19 Vanderbilt. UT lost to #2 Duke. Arkansas is 2-1 against ranked teams this season defeating then-#20-ranked Vanderbilt, #24 Florida but losing to #3/4-ranked LSU. LAST TIME IN KNOXVILLE The #8/10-ranked Tennessee Lady Vols opened their SEC slate with a 72-54 victory over Arkansas at Thompson-Boling Arena on Jan. 13, 2005. UA jumped out of the gates first, however, connecting on a three-pointer to open the game. Utilizing a full-court press, the Lady Vols responded with an impressive 19-2 run to lead by 14 following a layup by Dominique Redding at the 10:45 mark. Shortly thereafter, Pat Summitt's squad rattled off a 13-2 spurt to push the margin to 25 points before taking a comfortable 40-17 lead into the locker room. In the opening frame, UT was led by Shyra Ely who had already nearly totaled a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. Following the intermission, the Lady 'Backs came out firing on all cylinders, as they connected on their first three attempts from the field. Despite the hot start, UA was unable to significantly narrow the margin. Arkansas cut the lead to 17 points with 14:48 remaining, but UT answered with a 13-4 run to extend the advantage to 26 points as they coasted to the 18-point victory. Tennessee was led by four players in double figures: Shanna Zolman (16), Tye'sha Fluker (12), and Ely and Redding (10). Ely also snared 11 rebounds to earn her 19th career double-double. On the evening, UT shot 43.6 percent while holding the opposition to just 33.3 percent shooting. Additionally, the Lady Vols won the battle of the boards, 46-30, marking their second largest rebounding advantage of this season. GREAT TICKET NUMBERS! As of Feb. 1, the Tennessee Lady Vol ticket office announced that 19,307 tickets had been sold for the Feb. 9 game versus #3/4-ranked LSU and 15,415 ducats had been sold for the Feb. 12 game against #22/21-ranked Vanderbilt. Both contests are in Knoxville and will be televised on ESPN2. LAST LOSS TO AN UNRANKED TEAM? Before unranked Kentucky turned the trick with a 66-63 win over #1/3-ranked Tennessee on Jan. 26, 2006 at Rupp Arena, it had been four years since an unranked team upset the Lady Vols. So before Kentucky, when was the last time Tennessee lost to an unranked team? That would have been to LSU on Mar. 2, 2002 at the SEC Tournament in Nashville, Tenn. LSU had been in and out of the Top 25 polls in late January and February. Prior to that, UT's last loss to an unranked team was five years previous (to the day) losing to Auburn on Mar. 2, 1997 at the SEC Tournament. SUMMITT COLLECTS 900TH Lady Vol Coach Pat Summitt picked up her 900th collegiate coaching win on Jan. 19 with a come-from-behind victory over #19-ranked Vanderbilt, 80-68, in Nashville, Tenn, In addition, she collected wins #100, 400, 700 and 800 on the first attempt. It hardly seems possible that it has been three years and five days since collected her 800th career victory on January 14, 2003 - an anxious and anticipatory 76-57 win over #25/24 DePaul at home. That set of 100 wins (700-800) took three years and 38 days. ON UT's RADAR SCREEN - LSU LSU (19-1, 7-0 SEC) will be looking to keep their perfect SEC record intact taking on Ole Miss in Baton Rouge, La., on Super Bowl Sunday. In their last outing, the #3/4-ranked Lady Tigers used a 15-0 run to build a 24-point halftime lead and cruised to its 21st-consecutive SEC win, 93-59, over Arkansas on Feb. 2 at the Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, Ark. LSU shot 58 percent from the field, including better than 67 percent in the first half. Arkansas (13-8, 5-3 SEC), which entered the evening tied for third in the conference standings, became latest victim of LSU's "smothersome" defense -- and the 17th opponent that failed to shoot better than 40 percent. The Lady Razorbacks were 22 of 65 for 34 percent. The Lady Tigers stood tall behind the front line of Sylvia Fowles and Ashley Thomas. The duo's presence in the lane was too much for Arkansas, as they combined to make 16 of 20 shots, score 38 points and grab 19 rebounds. Fowles' 13th double-double of the season came in the form of 21 points and 11 rebounds. Thomas had career-best efforts of 17 points and eight rebounds. LSU's leading scorer, Seimone Augustus, finished just below her season average (20.8 ppg.) with 19 points. Florence Williams (14) and Erica White (10) were also in double figures scoring. White had a game-high eight assists. The Lady Tigers made 25-of-29 free throws for 86 percent. The Lady Tigers made their first five shots from the field and 7-of-8 to open the game to take a 16-9 lead after six minutes of play. A pair of free throws and a layup by Erica White gave LSU a 20-9 advantage two minutes later. LSU's torrid shooting pace continued, as Fowles dominated the paint with 14 points after making 6-of-7 shots to start the contest. The Lady Tigers missed only six of their first 22 attempts (72.7 percent). A 15-0 LSU run to end the first half allowed the Lady Tigers to build the lead to 47-23. Arkansas was held scoreless for the final 6:40. LSU travels to UT on Feb. 9 for a "Rivalry Week" game on ESPN2 HD. GETTING BACK THE "MO-JO" ONE GAME AT A TIME After Coach Pat Summitt and her staff came away from the 89-54 win over Alabama on Jan. 29 feeling a little bit better about the play of the fifth-ranked Lady Vols, the following game at Ole Miss on Feb. 2 produced a first half which was 360 degrees in the opposite direction. The Lady Vols trailed the Lady Rebels, 28-26, shot only 34% FG and was getting beat on the boards, 21-16, in some very lackadaisical play. After a stern halftime message, UT came out firing and hunkered down on "D", shot 61.5% (16-26), nailed 50% from the arc (4-8), connected on 80% FT (16-20) and outrebounded Ole Miss 22-14. Summitt had praise for the leadership of seniors Shanna Zolman and Tye Fluker in the second half turnaround. Ever since then-top-ranked UT came away from the thrashing at Duke (Jan. 23) and the upset loss at Kentucky (Jan. 26), the team has been playing like it lost its "Mo-Jo." Uninspired and soft defense along with shoddy board play and a lack of leadership has haunted this team and staff. Summitt had been concerned since the Connecticut and Georgia games that her Lady Vol team had been "living on the edge defensively." Against Vanderbilt, UT was down by 14 points in the first half due to not defending the 3-ball and a lack of passion on the boards. The Lady Vols still managed to win those key games (often in spite of themselves) but were "exposed" against Duke and ran into a buzz-saw at Kentucky. It comes as no surprise that defense and rebounding, Summitt staples for 32 years, will continue to be points of emphasis for the 2005-06 team. In fact at the Jan. 27 practice (following the loss at Kentucky), former Lady Vols Shelley Sexton Collier and Melissa McCray Dukes talked to the squad about the pride it takes to play Lady Vols defense and how a lack of effort in rebounding is not acceptable. DOESN'T SEEM LIKE IT HAS BEEN 3,343 DAYS Georgia was the last to do it. Happened 3,343 days ago. Really! 3,343 days...Almost 10 years. The Tennessee Lady Vols have rattled off 63 consecutive SEC home wins in Thompson-Boling Arena since Dec. 8, 1996, when Georgia was the last team to hang an SEC home loss on the Lady Vols. The Lady Bulldogs prevailed 94-93 in overtime and the 63-game win streak began with a "w" over Kentucky, 84-61, on Jan. 12, 1997, in the very next home SEC game. LADY VOLS DROP BELOW 80.0 PPG AND 40.0 RPG The Tennessee Lady Vols had been enjoying a mid-80's average in point production and a 25-plus scoring margin until the last couple of weeks. The Lady Vols are currently averaging 79.7 ppg and hanging on to a +20.0 scoring margin. Currently at 38.8 rebounds per game, this is the worst rebounding team in Lady Vol history inching below the 1977-78 squad who managed just 39.7 rpg in 31 contests. IT WAS THE SECOND BEST START TO A SEASON Stopped at 18-consecutive victories with the lost to Duke, the Lady Vols 18-0 run to start the 2005-06 campaign is the second-best all-time to open the season at Tennessee. Of the 13 perfect starts to a Lady Vol season (of at least 7 wins), the run was stopped with a loss to a BIG EAST team on four occasions (UConn three times and Rutgers once) and an SEC team (Auburn) once. Now add Duke from the ACC to that group of streak stoppers. RECENT QUICK HITTERS

The UT bench has outscored the opponents 13 times and outrebounded them 12 times. UT HAS NCAA'S BEST RPI The University of Tennessee Lady Vols top the first official Ratings Percentage Indexes (RPI) released by the NCAA on Feb. 1. The RPI rankings -- which can be found at www.ncaasports.com -- include all games played through Jan. 30. The official RPI is used as one of many tools to select teams to participate in the championships. Developed in 1981, the RPI provides supplemental data in the evaluation of teams for at-large selection and seeding of the championship bracket is only one of many pieces of information available to the committees. Qualitative factors such as games missed by student-athletes or coaches and a team's performance in the latter portion of the season cannot be reliably measured by a statistical model. However, such factors are among the details of each team considered by the committees. DROPPED TO #5 IN BOTH POLLS As anticipated after the loss to #2 Duke and to unranked Kentucky, the Lady Vols dropped to number five in both polls on Jan. 30 and Jan. 31. The Tennessee Lady Vols remained in the No.1 spot in the Associated Press poll on Jan. 23 - in voting held before UT's loss to #2 Duke. The poll of Dec. 26 marked the 100th time in Head Coach Pat Summitt's career that the Lady Vols were ranked number one. In the Dec. 5 AP poll, the Lady Vols were voted #1. It marked the first time since the second poll of the 2004-05 season that Tennessee has held the top spot in women's college hoops. The AP poll, now in its 30th year, celebrated poll number 500 in the first week of this season. Tennessee is on a run of 369 consecutive appearances in the poll. The 13th week of the 1984-85 season marked the last time a Summitt squad was not ranked. The Lady Vols have been unranked only 14 times in 509 polls. Summitt has guided the program to a poll-best 370 top-five appearances. Louisiana Tech, with 279 weeks in the top-five, ranks second. In the Nov. 28 poll, Duke led by seven points even though Tennessee had a 22-21 edge in first-place votes. THE ESPN/USA TODAY POLLING PLACE In the first USA TODAY/ESPN poll of the year on Nov. 1, the Lady Vols began the 2005-06 season as the number one ranked team in the country. It marks the 25th time in 30 years that UT has started the season in the top five in the nation. With the loss to Duke, Tennessee dropped to #3 and dropped again to #5 after losing to unranked Kentucky. 497 GAMES VERSUS RANKED TEAMS Tennessee's game versus #2 Duke on Jan. 23, 2006 was the Lady Vols' 497th all-time versus a ranked team since the inception of the polls in 1976. UT is an amazing 354-143 (.703) versus ranked teams. This year, Tennessee is 9-1 versus ranked teams. In 2004-05, the Lady Vols were 10-5 vs. ranked teams. AGAINST THE SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE Tennessee owns a 356-55 record all-time record vs. 12 teams from the Southeastern Conference. The Lady Vols maintain a winning record against every team in the SEC. UT IS AMAZING AT HOME VERSUS THE SEC Since Tennessee began contesting games with Southeastern Conference opponents, the Lady Vols have produced a 147-9 record in all games played at home. Only four SEC teams have ever managed a victory over the Lady Vols in Knoxville - Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky and Ole Miss. Georgia has won three games on UT's turf while Auburn, Kentucky and Ole Miss have registered two wins each. Georgia is the only team to defeat UT at home in the 1990s - the Lady Bulldogs turned the trick in 1991 and 1996. No SEC team has defeated UT at home in the 21st century. WOW--12 SEASONS OF AT LEAST 10 SEC VICTORIES In the win over South Carolina on Feb. 17, 2005, Tennessee claimed its 10th SEC victory of the year. The Lady Vols have now registered double-digit victories in conference play an incredible 12 times. Since the 1991-92 season when SEC play expanded, the Lady Vols have won at least 10 games in the following years: 1992-10 games, 1993-11 games, 1994-11 games, 1995-11 games, 1998-14 games, 1999-13 games, 2000-13 games, 2001- 14 games, 2002- 13 games, 2003- 14 games, 2004-14 games and 2005- 13 games. SNAPPED AT 42 -- CONSECUTIVE SEC WINS With the loss to LSU on Feb. 10, 2005, the Lady Vols 42-game consecutive regular season SEC win streak was halted. Until the loss to LSU, the Lady Vols had not lost an SEC regular season game since at Vanderbilt on Feb. 2, 2002, 76-59. 63 CONSECUTIVE SEC HOME WINS With the victory over Alabama on Jan. 29, 2006, the Lady Vols have won 63 consecutive SEC home games. The last SEC loss at home was to Georgia on Dec. 8, 1996, 94-93 (OT). SEC LEAGUE PLAY UT owns a league best record of 234-31 against all SEC teams dating back to 1983. THIS IS AMAZING From 1980-1997, the Lady Vols claimed a total of six SEC regular season titles in 17 years. From 1998-2004, Tennessee captured seven consecutive SEC regular season crowns producing an amazing 109-4 record. UT's only league losses were to Vandy, Georgia and LSU (twice) during this stretch. LADY VOL STREAKS The last time the Lady Vols lost at home was against Duke, 59-57 on Dec. 2, 2004 -- since then, UT has won 21 home games. The last time UT lost on the road was on Jan. 26, 2006 at Kentucky, since then, UT has won one road game. The last time the Lady Vols lost on a neutral court was against Michigan State, 64-68, in the NCAA semifinal game on April 3, 2005 Since then, UT has won three games on a neutral court. 100 POINT GAMES Since 1974, the Lady Vols have gone over the century mark 71 times. This season, UT has eclipsed 100 points in two games - Princeton 107 and #16/18 Texas, 102. Noteworthy: Tennessee went over 100 points in an NCAA playoff game for the first time ever in 1993-94 with the win over North Carolina A&T, 111-37. The 1987-88 team hit triple digits in seven games leading the NCAA. IN OVERTIME The Lady Vols are 24-12 all-time in overtime games. The most OT games in a year was tied in 2003-04 with four as the Lady Vols went 3-1 in overtime losing to Georgia, 68-66, and defeating Auburn, 68-61, DePaul, 96-89, and Stanford, 70-66. It tied the mark set in 1996-97, when the Lady Vols were 3-1 in overtime contests losing to Georgia, 94-93, and defeating Texas, 68-65, Vanderbilt, 92-79 and LSU, 100-99. UT's 22 points in the OT against Florida (2-3-05), was the most ever scored by the Lady Vols in a single overtime. AN OT STORY Before the Lady Vols piled up four overtime games in the 2003-04 season, OT contests were few and far-in-between. The Jan. 4, 2003, overtime contest with Connecticut, was the first time Tennessee was involved in an extra stanza game since the 1996-97 season when the Lady Vols played a then-record four overtime affairs. DEMOSS JOINS PECK The roll call goes like this: Sylvia Hatchell, Sharon Fanning, Jane Albright, Lea Henry, Nancy Darsch, Trish Roberts, and Mickie DeMoss. etc., UT coach Pat Summitt has faced many former players and assistant coaches in a variety of games thru the years but Mickie DeMoss of Kentucky and Carolyn Peck at Florida, are the only two to record a victory over their former boss. While at Purdue, Peck handed Summitt a 78-68 loss on Nov.15, 1998 in the State Farm Tip-Off Classic in West Lafayette, Ind. The defeat snapped UT's 46-game consecutive winning streak (that was second only to Louisiana Tech's all-time 54-game winning streak). DeMoss, a Summitt assistant for 18 years, turned the trick in Lexington on Jan. 26, 2006, with a 66-63 victory over then #1/3 Tennessee in Rupp Arena. ALL TV, ALL THE TIME There's no excuse not to catch the Lady Vols over the next seven games. All remaining games will be televised. 100TH NUMBER ONE RANKING The Associated Press poll of Dec. 26, 2005, marked the 100th #1 ranking all-time for the Lady Vols. UT has produced a 71-21 record when ranked number-one. When ranked #1, the Lady Vols are 33-17 against the top 10 teams and 38-4 against teams ranked in the 11-25 spots in the AP poll. FEBRUARY SUCCESS The Lady Vols have enjoyed a great deal of success in the month of February over the years. UT has produced a 233-31 all-time record during the second month of the year. The Lady Vols are 123-11 at home, 87-17 away and 23-3 at neutral sites. HIT OVER 100,000 AGAINST GEORGIA With a good crowd (13,772) against #13/17 Georgia on Jan. 12, the Lady Vols went over the 100,000 fan mark at home. To date, 113,361 fans have been counted in eight Lady Vol home games. This marks the 12th consecutive time UT has hit at least 100,000 fans per season at home dating back to 1994-95. NO KIDDING, LET'S GO SEE THE CIRCUS Lady Vol basketball has that "circus charm" to it again this season. Every road team---George Washington, Stanford, Temple, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Duke, Kentucky and Ole Miss (UT's 10 road games) have posted new attendance records or season high attendance records. The coffers have fared well - ticket prices when UT came to town almost doubled the price of a normal ducat at many venues. Duke and Notre Dame announced advance sell-outs weeks before the game. A normal ticket at Vanderbilt for women's hoops is $10.50 for anyone but Tennessee - the Commodores charged $20.50 to see the Lady Vols play. Most recently, Kentucky drew a record crowd of 13,689 at Rupp Arena when they defeated the Lady Vols, 66-63. ONLY ONE LOSS EVER The unranked Temple Owls almost pulled off a shocker in Knoxville, Tenn., on Nov. 28, 2004, losing 52-48 to the #1-ranked Tennessee Lady Vols. Tennessee has never lost to an unranked team at home in the 18-years that the team has been playing in Thompson-Boling Arena. In fact, since the Associated Press polls started in 1976, the Lady Vols have only lost one game ever to an unranked opponent at home. The Dawn Staley-coached Temple Owls almost accomplished (practically 20 years to the day) what the unranked Cincinnati Lady Bearcats pulled-off when they waltzed into Stokely Athletics Center on Nov. 26, 1984, and hung a 72-69 loss on the 12th-ranked Lady Vols. Cincinnati's Cheryl Cook had a field day against UT and tossed in 34 points in 33 minutes of action in the upset. Tennessee has lost just 14 games all-time at TBA - all to ranked opponents and comprised of just seven teams. UT has never played a game at TBA when they were not ranked. UT lost 19 games all-time at Stokely since the rankings started in 1976. Eighteen losses were to ranked opponents and just one to an unranked team. UT was not ranked at the time of three of the losses to ranked teams.
