The 2007 Louisville Slugger TPX Preseason All-America Teams, as chosen by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, were announced Friday, and Tennessee landed two of its players on the distinguished squad. Junior outfielder Julio Borbon earned first-team honors, while junior catcher J.P. Arencibia was a second-team selection.
Borbon hit .366 with 86 hits and 19 stolen bases last season. Arencibia batted .352 with 11 home runs and 52 RBIs. Both players starred for the gold-medal-winning USA Baseball National Team this past summer.
Tennessee was one of 17 schools to place multiple players on the Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America Teams, which included a complete first, second and third team. Rice led all schools with four preseason honorees. Tennessee was one of four Southeastern Conference teams with two honorees.
