Junior guard Chris Lofton was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week after scoring 30 points for the third time in his career when he reached the mark in the first round of the NIT Season Tip-Off in Tennessee's 78-71 win against Fordham. It is the fourth time in his career he has garnered the award, tying Allan Houston for second among Vols to be named conference player of the week.
He scored 19 points in the first half against the Rams, shooting 5-of-10 from three-point range, 7-of-8 from the line while totaling four steals.
Lofton led Tennessee in scoring two of the three games, scoring 17 points in UT's 87-75 win versus UNC-Wilmington and totaling 19 points against Coppin State.
He finished the week with 999 career points after entering the Coppin State game with 980 points.
